While saying they believed there was no orchestrated cover-up, they left the decision on whether crimes occurred to the Army.

Tillman's family said it was not satisfied by what it called an "attempt to impose closure by slapping the wrists of a few officers and enlisted men." The family called for congressional hearings on his death.

"Once again, we are being used as props in a
Pentagon public relations exercise," Tillman's mother, Mary, said in a prepared statement Monday evening.

Army and Defense Department investigators said officers looking into Tillman's death passed along misleading and inaccurate information and delayed reporting their belief that Tillman was killed by fellow Rangers.

The investigators recommended that the Army take action against the officers, but suggested no specific punishments and left it to the Army to decide what to do. Possible steps could include demotions, dishonorable discharges, jail or letters of reprimand.

It think it's terribly sad and that Pat Tillman died a hero. The controversy around all this wouldn't be happening if a few soldier's, including some high ranking officers hadn't tried to cover up the friendly fire thing, and reprimand, in whatever form, should be given. From the corrected reports, it sounds like it was a legitimate case of mistaken identity, and from the way his father spoke on the news tonight (local Phx) they've found some closure.

As for your comment "How many more before the end of the war", this happened in Afganistan where we're looking for Bin Laden, not in the heavily protested war in Iraq.

I read this story in Sports Illustrated dated May 3, 2004, Volume 100, Issue 18 (Pat Tillman is on the cover) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/magazine/09/05/tillman0911/
I recommend it to anyone who is curious about what really happened.

Pat Tillman is a true American hero. Unfortunately this is the ugly part of war.

I don't know how many more people will die. One is too many.

Kevin Tillman should be charged with treason and mutiny. I would like him to see the inside of a military court SOON and may his sentence allow him to see his brother again as quickly as possible.

Some quotes from Kevin's letter:

"Somehow America has become a country that projects everything that it is not and condemns everything that it is."

"Somehow the same incompetent, narcissistic, virtueless, vacuous, malicious criminals are still in charge of this country."

"So don’t be shocked when our grandkids bury much of this generation as traitors to the nation, to the world and to humanity"

For every letter like this one, I hear voices of two or three soldiers that say otherwise.
