This is America. Always plead not guilty. This is so that the prosecution will have the burden of proving beyond reasonable doubt that you committed an illegal act. If they cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt, you go scot free. I'm not condoning crime. In fact, I'm a right winger, however, why place meat right in front of a hungry lion, when you know the lion can hunt for it?

In a nutshell, let the prosecution prove if you did the crime or not. If they cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt, you go scott free, or with a slap on the wrist. I hope you learned your lesson with the guilt and insomnia you are getting.

Actions have consequences. You are now not only responsible for your life, but that of your kid/kids. What you do affects your kid/kids. Do the right thing next time. Hope that you get a second chance from this, not many people get those second chances. If you do, use it wisely.

DO NOT PLEAD ANYTHING - tell them you haven't got a lawyer and need to talk with one first!!! I hope you can afford a real attorney instead of a PD but oh well, if you get a PD do research on your own - and ask questions on line at those free legal advice sites - this one is very good-

Plead guilty and take your punishment for the crimes you committed - not the least of which was bringing your baby daughter with you on your little crime spree.
You were "around the wrong people", so you brought the baby for what? To keep you company?
Go rot in jail.

If you fully cooperate with the authorities, and this was your first offense, you will probably get off with probation. Have your lawyer (public defender) discuss the matter with the prosecutor to see what sort of deal you can get. Go forth and sin no more.
