Totally normal. They give us total devotion and unconditional love, coming home to that mad frenzy which says "My goodness, I missed you" is what makes my day complete.

Yes it's normal. Many people care for their animals SO much, and would rather put themselves out than let their animal go without. It is a normal emotion, as humans we have the desire to be needed, and as our children grow up and we're around other adults we find we're not needed as much so we use animals to feel that "desire to be needed".

Dogs don't leave the toilet seat up. They kiss you when you come home. They don't leave their dishes in the sink. They always want to play with you. They don't backtalk you. They listen to all of your problems without complaining. They are the perfect companion!

Unconditional love, companionship, loyalty, trusting, tail wagging, happy go lucky, silly, sweet, protective, cuddly, fuzzy, energetic, kissy, slobbery, belly rub begging, treat mongering, just to name a few.

It's completely normal.
