I'm having a Burger King birthday party for my (going to be) 4 yr old. It's 2 hours, playground playroom thing, and a clown that plays with the kids. They each get a meal and cupcake.

Should I plan party games and what not for the kids? Or just let the clown and playground occupy them?

Also, since I don't know ANY of the parents, and I would hope for their sake they don't drop their children off, should I have something for the parents to do as well? Even though it's a CHILD'S party?

If you think I should have child/parent activities what do you suggest i do? I'm NOT good with this kind of stuff.

Thanks so much guys!!!

No do not plan any activites...that is what the playground is for. When the parents get there with their kidlets invite them to join, offer to buy them a coffee.

You don't need to have anything for the parents; it is a kids' party. You might want to plan a COUPLE of games. What I would do is play it by ear. Two hours is a long time, but my kids could have played in a play place for two hours at that age. If the kids get bored, then you could pull the games out. I just wouldn't plan anything that took too much time on your part, so if you don't play the games, oh well. You could easily play Hot Potato, where the kids pass an object around the circle and try not to have it when you turn around. You could play Musical Chairs, only don't take one chair out each time because of the age of the kids - just sing the birthday song or some other lil kid song and have the kids all dive for a chair and try to be in it when you turn around. You could play a memory game [if there weren't too many kids there] where you put 3 objects in a shallow box or container and show the kids, then don't let them see as you add another item, and then show them the box and have them say what you added. Keep doing this till you have about a dozen items in there. [Just simple items from around the house that they'd know the names for. Maybe a few plastic animals also, or some little toy from your child's room.]

I would ask the manager at burger king if they have any party games they do at birthday parties. if not i would have simple games like pin the tail on the donkey or drop clothes pins in a jar or guessing games to keep them interested. you dont have to have to have every second planned, but they might get bored with just the playground thing. dont plan too much otherwise it may get too overwhelming and crazy. 1-3 activities would be sufficient due to the fact it is 2 hours and they need time to eat, presents, and the clown.

as far as the parents, invite them to stay. offer them a cup of coffee or a drink, but they shouldnt expect a meal. after all it is a child's party. you dont need to have activities to include the adults, the are really not part of the party. concentrate on the kids. if they offer to help then have morethan one activity going at a time.

I wouldn't plan activities for the parents because in our experience the parents just drop off the kids for the party and come back when its done. Some do stay. I might plan one activity for them something simple as their focus is going to be on the playground....
