As military retiree who was on active duty for both Nam and Desert Storm I absolutely support our military. This should in no way be confused or compared to support for an open ended waste of U.S. lives and money. We knew, at the time, that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and posed no threat to the U.S. Bush apologists are now claiming he never said they did pose such a threat. That being the case why are we there in the first place? As to doing the job, what job? There are no defined military objectives, no clearly defined attainable goals, no defined enemy nation, Bush, when he was Governor of Texas, stated that the U.S. military should never be used in the way he is, at present, using it, in short, there is no job. That our troops are doing a great job and have done great good for the people of Iraq none can dispute, but acknowledgment and support of our military in no way entails any support for Bush and his incompetent, ill advised, poorly planned, and clearly failed policies.
