You should treet him as a diplomat (not as a religious leader).
Be polite, but do not bow, kiss his ring, kneel, or refer to him as "your holiness".
How would you act if you met the Prime Minister of England?
Address him as sir (because he is your elder if nothing else).

I think you should greet him as you would any other person in a position of great power....with respect and kindness. You should ask him what he would like to be called, then address him by that name throughout the rest of your meeting. I doubt he speaks English very well, so you might want to brush up on your German or Italian. I assume he speaks both languages (native German living in Italy for a number of years). That's about it...just be yourself and everything should go smoothly...

You kiss my ring and I'll kiss yours. Just kidding I'd say hi Bene if I may call you Bene that is. Hows life in the Vatican. How about a spin in the Pope Mobile. At that point the security would usher me away and explain to the Pope how close he was in proximity to an escapee from the asylum.

i do not think even the catholics have this one right. no one is more holy than the other. even biblicaly calling him pope is wrong. pope means Father the type of deistic Father. and in the bible this term is only meant for God Himself. but honestly with respect he is good man but you two could not even speak to each other. he does not know English(actually I may be wrong about that)

Greet him by saying Good morning brother or good evening brother, good afternoon brother, do you want to eat with me? or do you want me to let you eat with me or anything else. a polite greetings to him will be okay.
But I believe, you can not just go near the Pope of the catholics. He is guarded closely by his person angels from harm and from touching his cared skin. You might transfer the virus from your hands because his skin is very sensitive of virus. After your light touch, offer him alcohol to wash his hands, please.

hi how are you bit old to be getting this job wern't you.
he is not a god and why should I kiss his feet because he claims to be hollier than me, is he is his beleif in god stronger than mine I think not, if he was a true Christian he would not be where he is today, what do you think the mother Mary would say if she came back and saw all these statues and relics of her that people bow and kneel in front of, the son is the Christ, and he ordered that we worship no one but the father, the first testament is there is only one god, so i am sorry I have no time for false witness or profets, or those who claim to be hollier than I, my god lives in me not in the roman catholic church or any other religeon, religion makes us blind, in faith we see,

His name is Benedict, and he is the Pope, so I suppose the proper way to address him would be Pope or Benedict, or Pope Benedict.

He's the Pope, so you should still call him the Pope. Pope Benedict would be most appropriate. It's his title, like "doctor", "professor", or even "mister" or "miss/misses".

I'd say, "Heyyyyyy there, my man. What's cookin?" LOL
I'm not Catholic. I'd address him as Pope, but since he is not Christ or God, I would speak to him as I speak to any other person.
