I think that a man that shows a loving and caring attitude toward animals is showing that he has heart. This does not mean that he is too soft at all.
My family and I had a lab/husky cross and a cat for about seventeen years together who passed away within a month of each other and it hurt all of us equally. That doesn't mean that it made my husband and son any less masculine than they are.
I would think that a man who can show affection and caring toward a pet, would make a great Dad, as fatherhood involves equal amounts of strength and tenderness.
Sorry about the loss of your dog, it can be heartwrenching to lose a pet that was such a big part of your life for so long.
Have a good night.

No It doesnt matter. In fact most girls like when a big guy can show his soft side. And as far as bieng hurt when your 17 yr old dog died..I had a dog from the age of 4 to the age of 15 and my brother cried just as hard as I did when he died. So tell your wife to appreciate the fact that she has a man who has a soft side. I wish the guy Im with would show that a bit more often.

I consider a man a man who loves ALL animals! You being a hunter, i believe you are contradicting your self here. Your compassion for dogs and cats, because thats the norm for a pet owner? So to answer your question; NO i dont find you sexy at all!

there is nothing wron with caring about your pets i mean come on now they have feelings to they want to feel loved just as much as the next person and there is no reason why they should get deprived love of becuase it is "feminine" i would not say it was sexy to love your pets but it is acceptable i think its nice when a man has a lot of compassion for an animal becuase think of how much compassion they would have for me.

A man that stands for his convictions and what he believes in is what is most apparent and appealing---I mean you don't have to agree about everything, but have some standards and stand by them. Animlas and whatever we care for is a personal issue---one of those things I don't feel that you need to explain to anyone. I would be scared of a person that has no compassion for any living creature--live and let live. I am a firefighter for 34 years---and I have seen it all---10, 000 calls a year----anyone want to tell me I can't have compassion for an animal??? I dare ya....

i wish i had a guy like that.. mine would rather kill my poor fat kitty...sometimes, it is hard for a woman to believe a man cares that much about a pet..your wife could just be in unfamiliar territory, and doesn't know how to deal. but there is nothing wrong with having compassion for animals-pets or otherwise..some of the biggest guys i know spoil their pets- cats, dogs. and lets not forget the bunny rabbit.. i think it is very sexy.

having compassion for pets doesn't mean to say for a feminist. all people no matter what the gender be could feel compassion for their pets, coz most likely pets are the ones whom you can turn to if you want company but being alone. its like they are sounding boards if you've got problems that's why people get attached to their pets and care for them like they are also humans.... it's acceptable, but your wife just don't understand how you feel........... for me it's appealing for a man to have soft spots for animals, its a way of showing he has compassion for others too....

Men are allowed to love one dog. thats it. no more . no cats. no bevers. just one dog.
Anything more than that is slightly unattractive to me. Over attachment to that dog, also kind of unattractive. Like don't be balling on the couch with a box of tissues when your dog dies. But its completely understandable to be down after losing a 17 yr old pet. Sorry for your loss.
