i am a single mom, and my daughter and i live off of ramen noodles, and liver scraps from the butcher's assistant we know at the grocery store. here lately, though, she refuses to eat the meals i cook for her, and makes me take her to mcdonalds and she gets a small order of chicken nuggets, thats all she eats all day. i even tried deep fat frying the liver, but she wouldn't touch it. i'm scared that one day she will become really sick from eating all the grease from mcdonalds food everyday. what should i do to get her to go back to eating what i cook her 3 times a day, the ramen noodles and liver scraps. i cant afford much more than what i spend on those foods. and no, i'm NOT going to resort to charity of food stamps and WIC. here is my weekly grocery list; cheese slices, ramen noodles, (free liver scraps), juice for her, pepsi, and vodka for me.

Please resort to charity. It probably will only be temporary. If it's food for your daughter, please think about it. I had to do it once for a few months and now that we're better off, we try to give back. Don't let pride stop you. Here's some foods she may eat...lots of kids like goulash: Mix hamburger, tomato sauce, noodles and maybe some grated cheese and bake. Hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls with or w/o cheese and baked...most kids love that. Macaroni and cheese. As for veggies, I know it's hard sometimes...try cut up carrots or any other veggie she will try, but serve with some veggie dip. Sometimes just presenting fruits and veggies differently will make them go for it...cut up apples with peanut butter spread on them or with caramel dip...banana slices with milk and sugar. Maybe corn on the cob...it's not too expensive in the frozen food section and easy to make and kids like it usually. Peanut butter and jelly is okay...not perfect, but the pb is healthy. Canned fruit cocktail or the mini oranges. Even scrambled eggs mixed with little bits of cheese or pancakes would be okay. Eggs aren't too expensive. I know groceries are expensive, but I would get some help. She and you cannot live on liver scraps and ramen. It's not healthy at all. We all need help sometimes - don't worry about it! I know kids who live on ramen and McNuggets and I don't think it's very good for them.

You would rather have your kid eating ramen noodles and liver scraps than suck up your pride and get food stamps or WIC? Ramen noodles are really high in sodium. She is as likely to become ill from malnutrition and high salt intake as she is from the fat from McDs. McD's also offers a few healthier options than just fries and mcnuggets. Although not usually listed on the menu, most serve a grilled cheese kid's meal. If you order healthier sides like the apple dippers and milk, it isn't that horrible. They also offer yogurt and fruit parfaits with granola or side salads that usually aren't too expensive. Try buying some healthy but tasty cereal like honey nut Os, some milk, a loaf of whole grain bread and a jar of peanut butter. If you buy store brands or generic, you can probably get it for under $12. Buy store brand soda or drink water now and then. Let your boyfriend pay for the whole bottle of vodka and maybe he could fork over for a little food now and then. Also, if or when your daughter attends school, they usually have breakfast or lunch programs - use them. Being proud is no excuse to neglect and malnourish your child.

my younger bro went thru a phase of not eating anything but chicken nuggets. if it's chicken nuggets, he'll eat it. as he got older he ate less chicken nuggets.
you can make ramen noodles into stir fry. you just need a few more ingredients like soy sauce and stuff which will last you for a long time. i should say that ramen noodles has no nutrition in it whatsoever.
i'm thinking that if it's really that hard for you, you should definitely get food stamps. don't jeapardize your daughters health by having too much pride and not willing to apply for food stamps. at least you'll have food stamps so that you can buy her something more healthy and variety. maybe she'll pull away from McD. think about your daughter. newho you deserve to use food stamps neways because you are probably one of the few who are working hard and living on very little. that is i'm assuming you work as much as you can and still have someone watch over you daughter.
also i say forget about the pepsi and vodka. i mean maybe once or twice a month but your money could probably go for something better and healthier. well your bf's money could go for something better.

I really don't understand you raising your kid the way you are,but maybe there is a good explanation, i dont know.
If you can spend money on something that you dont have to have such as computer, computer service, and vodka then you should be able to provide for your child better than you are. If it takes food stamps, or any type of assistance for your child to get the nurishments she needs then thats what you should do. Who cares what people think if you are on food stamps if you really need them for your child. I have two kids of my own, I know its not cheap to feed and cloth them, but if I had go without for my kids i most definately would. You should really try doing better for her, and if you are an alcoholic then go get some help. I dont blame here I wouldn't want to eat that either.

ok, your daughter may just need to see something different on her plate... so, first change from noodles to rice, buy a small bag of flour and onions instead of cheese... you can make gravy with a little flour, salt, pepper, hot water, oil from the liver, and the onions, have liver and rice... no pepsi buy a family pack of hamburger on one or two of those trips to the store... have meatloaf and rice. i can understand that you may need a drink to ease you stress from financial hardship, but instead of vodka try some milk and whole grain cereal (frosted mini wheats) for you and your child... i think you both may be lacking some critical vitamins in your diets and this can be a good start... also fruit...two bananas are less than a 2litre pepsi. and juice is fine, but you can get a lot more yield from sugar and kool-aid, and more water never hurt anything.

you should trade the vodka for a whole 3 whole chickens a week
you can make fresh meal for you and your daughter on the daily and eat leftovers the following day each day
you can also have your daughter help you prepare whatever it is that you are making for her even if it is ramon noodles...you can have her carefully pour the powder into the noodles.......or have her break the noodles up
also you can buy fideo the ones in the yellow box they are normally like 5 for a dollar or so add some tomato sauce and you got yourself a fun slippery meal
also you can make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches......
or you can buy some cereal for her
you should really go to wic..i can understand if you dont want to get foodstamps but wic is really worth it.......
your daughter will always have milk..........cereal and juice
and not to mention the delicious cheese]
well good luck to you and i wish you the best!

Since you are going to buy the vodka, Give her the McDonalds and at least when she gets in school she will get better nutrition. Take the food stamps!! You should eat better too. That is why they are there. Feed the kid. There are plenty of things she would eat if you had the stamps. I wouldn't eat the liver either. blagh

That is not a healthy diet and you should sacrifice your foolish pride and your drunken BF for your daughter's sake. Have you not heard of fruits and vegetables? We all need them but growing children especially. How is eating deep fat fried liver better than McDonald's-don't you know liver is high in fat to begin with? Use the Internet to do some research instead, before you permanently harm your child's health!

Forgo the Pepsi, you can buy a five pound bag of potatoes for the same price as a 12 pack of Pepsi. Soda isn't necessary. Just think you could ferment your own potatoes for the vodka as well!
Liver? Egad, that's cruel and unusual punishment. For trolling, you get a 7 out of 10.

Well first of all suck up your pride a little, you obviosuly need help so why not sign up for it, there is nothing wrong or degrading about it. I would rather have my tax dollars going to someone like you that acually needs it than someone who doesnt. It could be she is tired of liver and your right mcdonalds isnt healthy for her. Also try buying some apples and oranges for her to munch on, they arent expensive. You could save some money on that Vodka but I am not going to judge eveyone needs a stress reliefe every once in a while.
