I'm not looking for "it's stupid", "it's evil" or "it's wrong". I just want you to tell me what it is to the best of your knowledge. Explain evolution to me. I want to hear it. I also don't need you to refute or endorse it... all I want is your explanation.

Christians are not necessarily Creationists. There are lots of Christians out here that believe in the evolutionary process in exactly the same way that it is presented in commonly used biology texts. My exception would be that of using evolution to explain away the existence of God. Evolution explains how we evolved from a lower life form to a higher, it still does nothing to explain the existence of life as we know it. Despite the scientific community's frantic quest for producing life forms in the laboratory, that feat has yet to be accomplished.
I know this wasn't a direct answer to your question, but really, why on earth would you need someone to explain evolution to you? Did you ever hear of the internet? Look it up- why would the meaning of evolution be any different for a Christian or a Creationist?

*Sigh* It makes me soo sad and frustrated to read the majority of the responses to your extremely well put question. Not one person actually answered your question properly.. each one HAD to somehow refute it using a basis of no real knowledge about the field of study.... I mean half of them dont realize that abiogenesis has really nothing to do with the proven facts of evolution. Its just one of the many guesses about how things began that are currently being scientifically tested. I know from experience that people refuse to actually answer these kind of thought provoking questions because they cannot and are afraid to read to much into evolution in case it shakes their belief that they already know where everything came from, who made it and where its going... it seems to be the hardest thing in the world for some people to admit that we dont KNOW how things started, the difference is they are comfortable with one unsubstantiated guess... science keeps speculating and theorizing and testing until we can find and prove something. Religion says we already KNOW how everything came about, etc... Science says we dont KNOW anything until we prove or disprove it...

Every Time They Find a Tyrannosaurus Rex
Its a Tyrannosaurus Rex
Not More Evolved Not Less
Same w/ All The Other Creatures
Brontosauruses
Trilobites (Millions)
Archeopteryx( Like 9 But There all the Same)
What are the odds if evolution was true That Even 9 creatures Would all be exactly the same [evolved]
Two in the same area Maybe
But Two in a Different area(Less than 50/50)
Either More or Less evolved should been the finding just on the 2nd one, But 9, That's Like 10 to The 9th Power
a tenth evolved 20% evolved 30% evolved 110% evolved , But not the same every freaking time
And Many More of other Dinosaurs a Lot More Than 9 were Found Think about it
If I Had a Deck of Cards & Said Draw a card it will Be a 10 of spades & you Did & it Was & I said do it again Another 10 of spades over & over again

Oh come on, face facts, they have NO understanding of biology, Evolution or any other facet of actual science.
If it's not written in an outdated book of bronze-age jewish mythology or if some con-man behind a pulpit doesn't tell them, then they don't believe it.
They are utterly pathetic and deserve only our pity.

I believe that earth was created the way the Bible says it was. That God created everything in a literal week. I do not believe in evolution at all the way it is taught. I think it is just a way to avoid the truth.
I don't understand how people can believe evolution. I understand that some small traits can be passed on from one generation to another... but to believe that something can go from being a lizard to a bird, or something of that sort means that somewhere along the way an animal without wings had to give birth to an animal that had wings... or else an animal that did not have wings had to pop out a pair during it's lifespan and pass this trait on to it's descendents. Why are the millions of missing links not found by archeologists? Because they don't exist and never did.
People say that believing in God is a crutch that Christians use so that we can have hope... I believe that believing in evolution/the big bang theory is a crutch that nonChristians use to help them go on living their lives the way they want to outside of God's will.
You know what they say... "whatever makes you sleep better at night"..... uh uh..... whatever is true... go with that.
check out "Dr. Dino's" online seminars (Kent Hovind) to learn lots about creationism and the flood. They are pretty detailed and are free.

I think people confuse evolution and adaptation. All kinds of creatures adapt constantly. Its not evolution. As environments change, so does the creature. But to evolve eludes to becoming a more efficient creature. Are we more efficient as a non-asexual being or an asexual being?
Evolution eludes to higher intelligence...yet today, we still can not duplicate today what some people did 2000, 3000, even 5000 years ago and more.
Did we stop evolving?????

Evolution is a process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations. Mutations within a gene can either improve or unimprove the strain, which natural selection weeds out according to its strength or weaknesses. Years of such mutation and natural selection then gradually move a species forward in the evolutionary timeline. The weaker is filtered out due to survival of the fittest.
"When it comes to the origins of life there are only two possibilities: Creation or spontaneous generation. There is no third way. Spontaneous generation was disproved hundreds of years ago, but that leads us to only one other conclusion, that of supernatural creation. We cannot accept that on philosophical grounds; therefore, we choose to believe the impossible. That life arose from spontaneous chance." - George Wald, "The Origin of Life", Scientific American May 1954

Okay, but remember: you asked for it. Steve's paraphrase: Once upon a time was a NotQuiteSomething. It didn't want to be a NotQuiteSomething and got really angry and blew up. No longer a NotQuiteSomething, it made a whole lot of something that eventually (over an indeterminant amount of time) became the universe. On an insignificant chunk of rock some of the new something formed some sludge. The sludge didn't like being sludge because, well, it's just such a boring thing to be, so it became an amoeba. But the amoeba didn't like being an amoeba because, of course all its friends were bigger than it, so it became a tadpole. The tadpole had a slight case of aquaphobia and decided it wanted to live on land so it grew some legs and climbed out of the ooze that had, for its entire existence been the only environment it knew of that it could possibly survive in and became a frog. Well, the frog wasn't happy being a frog and wanted to climb a tree, so it became a monkey. The monkey got tired of just hanging out (yeah, had to go there) and decided it wanted to live on land again, and eventually decided it wasn't quite smart enough and became man. Yep, seems completely and totally logical to me. You? NOT!

Change is the only constant in the universe. Given this fact species change to adapt to their environments and yes the strongest survive but that doesn't mean only the physically stronger. Intelligence does play a roll.

Christian...To me evolution is the theory that all living things, animals, fish, plants, etc. all came from the same origin and mutated or through natural selection became what they are today.
