no, because no one knows what the unexpected would be. this saying is for people who when met with the unexpected respond positively or appropriately to the given situation and always learn from it. which means that these people do their homework before going into something. eg, the stock market. if you just jump in, you wouldn't know what to expect and won't be prepared. however, if you research about the company you're going to invest in, plan all possible escape routes in case of a crash, read up on the market and study the charts, you would be sufficiently prepared to meet the unexpected (what if it booms? what if it stays stagnant for 10 years? what if it crashes?etc)
the unexpected will always be unexpected. doing your homework will limit the amount of "unexpectedness."
here's a thought to think about: if you can predict the unexpected, can you predict a million peoples' thoughts right now? what each individual is thinking of? can you predict the exact date of another volcano and the exact location? can you predict how many computers will be plagued with viruses and whose computers they belong to? can you predict what kind of answer anyone would give you to your question? NO, NO, NO!!!!! you can't predict ANYTHING, no matter how accurate you are and no matter how telepathic you seem to be...

Well its a saying isn't it, no need to critcize everything, or you can also say that there's no need for parents to remind their children to study, because we "know" that we'll get good grades.

If you think that I am going to rethink my answer, I would think that you think I already thought my thoughts.
