"Why did you hang up on me last night?"

Would I say "Por qué me colgaste anoche?" or is that wrong?

Por qué me colgaste anoche? is good.

"The phone connection was bad,
La conexión telefónica era mala [if it is something permanent]
or
La conexión telefónica estaba mal [if it is a temporary problem]

and the phone kept cutting out."
y las llamadas se estuvieron cortando a cada rato.

That is right
The phone connection was bad, and the phone kept cutting out.
translates to
"La conccion del telefono estaba mal, y el telefono siguio cortandose."
