As a Christian who loves science, I believe that it should be taught in school. That biological organisms evolve can be proven with simple experiments. However, I would not suggest it being taught as the fact of how man was formed. For me the Bible seems to suggest genetic engineering in the creation of modern man and animals. In lieu that other possibilities exist, I don't think it is fair / just to teach evolution as the only possible way. After all intelligence bypasses evolution. Intelligent man is not allowing evolution to proceed naturally today. Could an intelligent being have interfered with evolution in the past?

yes, just the same way 2+2 is taught.....it is natural fact........anyone that can disprove evolution, will get a nobel prize.

Granted it's a Theory.........but everything holds to hold the theory true. The theory of gravity and relativity seem to be widely taught. As evolution should be taught and is the best explanation as to how we are here. Creationism is however NOT the best explanation as to how we are here: as it has multiple loopholes and numerous fallacies.....What created the creator?
Why not teach other theories such as Evolution? The Steady State theory, the Cycling Universe theory...... etc etc..... it should be taught. Evolution is an accepted fact. With our technology, its the best we know, so far. Religion can't get any better. Studying Creationism can never advance, only science: as the bible is static and Genesis cannot be changed.

I lost faith Way before I was in science class.I attended a Catholic School for 5 years and was taught that we were created by god in his image. I didn't really believe it or understand it because it just doesn't seem possible. When I started the Public school, I was amazed at how many lies I'd been told as to how I got here on earth. And all the girls that had believed the creationism THEORY were yelling at the poor teacher and got thrown out of class, they reminded me of crazy terrorists. We need to teach both sides to how we came to be and the parents need to let the kids practice their beliefs at home. The kids need to shut up while they are being taught and stop preaching in public schools as it is not the place for church. That's what I loved about the public school, we had a choice and in the catholic school it was one way and no other. Keep church out of school and teach what is normal.

Whoa! Evolution has not been proved! But neither has Creationism! Evolution is currently the most scientifically plausible explanation for how things came to be. And Shneb, a few you sources you quoted are not that concrete! there is an experiment done that show that the materials the organic and inorganic materials needed for the earliest life to be formed were in fact present in the primordial soup.

If religion has a place in schools, then the theory of evolution should have one too. We should arm our children with the knowledge of all theories so they may make informed decisions about what to believe. Besides, they're gonna hear about it from another source eventually anyway!

Yes, only facts should be taught in science class in schools. I don't have a problem with the religions of the world being discussed in optional high school classes, but not in grade school... not at all. And NEVER in science class.

YES! Its a perfectly good theory. The world shouldnt be centered around religion. The only people who wouldnt support this being taught in school are those crazy, insane, God obsessed religious fanatics.

yes, but not until the kids have occurred some skills of objectively evaluating the theories presented. I suppose you should also teach a combination of theology as well.

I think it should. It is a widely accepted theory. I don't agree with it in many ways. I think that creation should at least get some teaching in schools too. Is it really fair to give all the attention to one theory. Since neither are able to be proven and there is evidence to support both.

No doubt about it, it's the history of how we got here, it belongs in schools. Or are you a creationist. If so, then go to sunday school and learn about your form of how the world was formed there and don't force it on the rest of the world, as most people believe in evolution,, it has been proven.
