Because it is easier to believe out of fear then actually learn and understand what you believe

Not scared but have a healthy fear and respect for him because anyone else can kill you physically but God can resurrect you. God can destroy you completely or leave you for dead. He is the only one with real power, is the way you should understand this.

If you can't follow his commandments out of love for him ,at least follow them out of fear of him. Once you do that and the blessings from god come into your life .Then instead of fearing him you start revering him. And in these end times remember god as saying " fear not he who can kill the body , rather fear he who can cause your soul to parish" . Good advice in these times.

Because if you believe God is the most powerful being in the universe, what else is there to be more scared of.

Well I'm an ex-Catholic, now Muslim, here's my answer:

Because God is our creator, and He will be the one deciding where we will be going (heaven or hell). He has power over all things!

Here's verse 37, Chapter 7 from the English Translation of the Holy Qur'an:

37. Who is more unjust than one who forges a lie against Allah or rejects His signs? For such, their portion appointed must reach them from teh Book (of Decrees): until, when Our messengers (Angels of death) arrive and take their souls, they say: "Where are the things that you used to invoke besides Allah?" They will reply "They have left us in the lurch", and they bear witness against themselves, that they had rejected Allah.

spazz: You do not have to be "scared" of God. To harbour a healthy respect would be fitting though. God says that, "perfect love casts out all fear". Fear, doubt and worry are all "tools" to undermine ones faith and Satan knows how to push people's "buttons" to have them in a state of confusion. So; you need not be afraid of God because God loves YOU !!!

People may say that because of the uneffable amount of power that He holds. In the Bible it says to fear the Lord. This is usually taken to mean a reverent fear. It says to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Mostly, you don't want to be on God's bad side. (Thanks for Jesus right?) Yeah, so basically be afraid of what God could do to you.

Because HE is the only being that can cause eternal death. If any man kills you, if you have been recorded in God's book of life, you are marked for everlasting life and can count on a resurrection. But, if you fail to live up to God's expectations, you'll be marked for destruction. The bible calls it "Gehenna, or the lake of fire," and it symbolizes total destruction, from which there is no resurrection.

To fear God is to know that He has the power and authority to not let you get away with sin. I fear Him. But I also knows He loves me with tough love.

Now I know why so many people were motivated by Bush's scare tactics. It all started in religion. The religious are such fearful sheep.

I am afraid of the big bad God. I am afraid of weapons of mass destruction. I am afraid of the Antichrist. I afraid of Satan. Give me a break people.

Because the worst thing that a person can do to you is kill your body. But it is God who can put you either in heaven or in hell.
