Im a 25 year old male in CA USA, for about 7 years when i go to sleep at night I see things when my eyes are closed, I see my surroundings almost as i normaly would in the swirls of my phosphenes. motion is easiest to see, like waying my hand infront of my face, but I've seen other things as well (like my cat jumping on the bed). I havent really told anyone before for fear of them thinking i was crazy, but its becoming a problem. I have cronic insomnia and not being able to turn out the visial world is making it harder. has anyone heard of anything like this? it looks like fuzzy shapes only slightly lighter then the normal phosphene swirls. motion is easier to see, and things seem to leave a trail like in thoughs wierd 60s and 70 movies. I've even gotten visials of things you cant normaly see, like the studs in my wall. I dont do drugs or anything like that, and have no idea what this is. if anyone has any idea, please let me know.

thanks
Nathan

As you lay in bed with your eyes closed you are no longer receiving visual stimulus, but there is a base amount of activity going on in your visual cortex, which your brain can interpret as sensory data, causing you to "see" things with your eyes closed. The things you're seeing aren't actual sensory data, though. You could also be having hypnogogic hallucinations. As you fall asleep your brain enters a state that is half awake and half asleep, and you will sometimes have vivid dreams during this state that can seem very real. In some cases, people cannot be persuaded that these dreams aren't real.

You are not a freak...you are not alone in the world. It IS real. What is happening is that your "inner vision" is working overtime and mostly at night. We are all given certain "unusual" abilities. It's just that most people are afraid of them or do not know what is happening.
This is something that you could learn to block out, or something you could learn to use better. (my 28 yr old son has this ability also.) It is not however one of the nicer gifts or one that is easy to explain. It is like having ESP in a quirky kind of way. Some people can see auras, some spirits, you see things without using your eyes. You easily pick up on what is around you. Just know...you are NOT alone.

You have strong imagination of something which you wanted to see when you are sleeping or your eyes have closed. this one reason.

Another is you may have not taken your bath for one (1) month or more days that is why the head of your whole body goes to your head to think that you have been eying things like those which you stated.

Another reason is your being alone in your room that sometimes you are getting bored about it when thinking of something which you could not do and make you not to sleep well . That is lack of sleep

Beware you will soon be a victim of lacking percentage of enough thinking and your brain may lost 10% of its ability to maneuver things.

yes , I have the same problem .

when you go to bed , and it started , try to end it . open your eyes and do not let it happen . you can control it if you wanted to , or it will control you .

just open your eyes every time you feel it is starting to happen. and re-try to sleep again.

when everything is normal , sleep like a baby and don't think about it. forget it.

first day or two , you will not be able to sleep all night .
after that , it will be very easy to do .

weeks to months later , it will be under your control with no problem . if I did it , you can do it .

but I don't know what it is or what they call it !

The best way to repeat any manthra japa while going to sleep like 'ram' or krishna' or jesus whichever suits you. As you repeat the name, there won't be any more disturbance.
