I say you have a true blessing from God. Evil forces are everywhere and try to scare God's people daily. Fright is not of God though and that's why the evil presence was around trying to scare you. Most oldsters call it a "monkey on your back".....
Evil spirits are the forms of satans demons and with you being a child of God, you were a target. But you were blessed enough to remember to pray and in doing so, YOU frightened the evil forces away. Remember, they can not stand to hear the Lords or Jesus' names. And most definitely does not like prayer.
Don't let others try to talk you out of this blessing. Those that don't believe know nothing about God's love and Divine protection.
Best of everything to you.... And God bless

When I hear people say these things, they are usually women, and when one says it, the next thing you know, most of the others are saying it too. Maybe it is real, maybe a demon is going around, spooking the women, who in turn go to God and the demon gets chased away. However, I tend to think that these things are wishful thinking, or made up to make them look better, or something along those lines. I have many very good reasons to believe this.
For one thing, when you pin them down and start asking for the facts, everything seems to be more like a dream than real, and it is almost always "feelings." For another, the women usually having these episodes are not generally known to make God, the Lord and Master of their lives. For another, they are also not know to live by the Word of God, but rather seem to live their own lives the way that they want to, and you had better not suggest to them otherwise!
To me they look more like they are in rebellion, or are deceiving themselves and/or others. And finally, they never test the spirit as commanded by God. Whether the "spirits" be good or evil or whatever, they just do not know what to do.
I imagine that these things are in the realm of possibility, but just barely. It's all too, for lack of a better way to put it, too overly dramatic, too touchy feely. I am sure that God is wonderful, warm, kind, gentle, and loving, but He is also solid reason and reality. These things tend to lead people away from God and into the realm of "feelings" and as the Bible clearly says, the heart is desparately wicked -- we cannot trust feelings.
If this is real, then I would bet that your entire life changed around. Suddenly you were studying the Holy Word of God and trying desparately to apply it in your life. Your husband, if you have one, is probably freeking out because suddenly you are obeying and honoring him. Eveyone is seeing you leave your life behind, and you are suddenly following Jesus Christ. Your house, your children, your family are suddenly no longer neglected. Everyone is probably wondering what happened to you and why is there this humble "Ruth" person (refering to the Ruth in the Bible) in your place?
If something like that did not happen to you and/or others around you, then I am just not buying it.

You felt that evil presence on that jogging path months ago.
Funny you would still jog there.
If you have progressed to hearing voices, talk to a doctor.

There are medications for that. I would seek psychiatric help. Not only for the voices, but the fact you claim jesus is your lover. If he actually lived, he has been dead for quite some time. I have heard of sex being a "religious experience", but that gives it a whole new meaning.

Did I ever hear voices.....? Yes, when I had a bad trip.
Ah, as for hiking out in the woods and sensing danger, yes I have had that happen...but I didn't hear any voices nor did I rely on prayers.

I think the human mind is incredibly complex and with a misfired synapse we can experience some strange things.

No, I haven't, and I think it may mean you have some kind of mental illness. I'm not being sarcastic, I really think that's not something a sane person experiences.

Did you ever hear voices.....?
Yes!
Every time I pick up the telephone after it rings!
It is usually only one voice though - not a chorus.
