Having somewhat of a debate between a friend and myself about this very topic and I just wanted to know some opinions...

In a perfect world, yes, it should not matter, however my friend and I have both come to the common ground that we must "warn" people that we are fat, so it doesn't come as a total shock when we get fixed up. Besides, be honest with yourselves looks do count in one way or another. As shallow as it does seem, it's true! That is just plain evolutionary...sorry to bring this debate into this...but again, I was just curious to see what people thought

From my observations, I believe men who are overweight have an easier time. It appears society is kinder to overweight men.

Fatter men, hands down. Not even close in fact.
Actually fatter men outperform good-looking men by a fair margin (assuming they have enough self confidence to ask the girls out in the first place that is).
The reasons why are as follows:
A fat man is usually a big man, which can be comforting to girls. They are also not percieved as aggressive, in fact most fat guys are percieved as being cuddly, safe, and comforting.
Women aren't 'on guard; forceshields up' for fat men like they are for average men. There might be a little pity thing going there but I doubt it. Physical appearance is much less important to women (in general) than it is to men.
On the other hand, physical appearance is *extremely* important to men. A girl is either 'on the list' or not based on her looks first no matter what a great personality she's got. (By the way, men are not shallow; other traits are actually more important than looks, but looks is the the first thing that we see and it immediately determines whether we'd date women romantically or maybe just hang out as friends).

I agree with anonymous...
I think overweight women are more likely to get dates because some men like the extra 'meat'. And, if the meat is in the right places, she may appear more voluptuous. For example, I think Monique is very pretty. She's overweight, but probably can get a date faster that I can!
Women on the other hand typically do not go after a guy's figure like men do with women. Sure, we like muscles and nice arms and legs, but women aren't physical creatures like men are. I also think it has something to do with the idea of a man cherishing and being affectionate to his woman, but there's less of this idea with women towards men.

Fat or skinny is not the real issue....it is the make up of a person as a whole---sure, looks are what everyone wants as a kid--but later in life we all find out that mature interesting people come in all shapes and sizes.One thing to consider, is that people who are more than heavy or exceptionally thin may have physical conditions that they have a problem contending with. So a supportive partner or friend might help them. Trouble with dating is usually more than size--it can also be a lack of self confidence, bad personal habits, poor attitude, lack of self respect, compulsions, or anything along these lines. Millions of people have problems----and they survive just fine---they can and do find partners who enjoy them the way they are. Be nice, have fun and good luck

Fatter men, because women are kinder. It's ironic, because women spend so much time on their appearance, but men scrutinize them unduly.
Men don't have entire magazines devoted to appearance like women do.
I'm a guy and I think it should be the other way around, only because men will never catch up to women in how much time they devote to appearance.

Fatter women would have dating much more easier compared to fatter men. The reason is because fat women have more fat on their breats and booty, which men love! And for fat men, they wont get dates very easily because fat is normally unattractive on men.

huge fat sweaty smelly men have the easiest of the easiest time getting laid...not just dates if he:
- pretends to have a lot of money
or
- does have a lot of money.
women love money first then the guy.
most guys lust over the chick rather than the wallet. hence, fat chicks dont get laid too often...unless yorue a chubby chaser...but thats a fetish and not normal.

Why?
A man feels sexy no matter what his size... Look at Homer Simpson, as a comic example! Well, most do!
Women hate their bodies and do not feel sexy after a certain set size in their minds, so that predisposes them to not get dates... they just get larger and unhappier... unless they decide to do something about it...

Women are more accepting. I love heavy men. Most men I know will not date a heavy woman.
