You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

RE For my situation, what is the best way to minimize my car insurance?
ok the situation is like this.
my family has two cars. (maxima and accent)
I (21years old) use the accent and my parents use the maxima.
All three of us are under the same insurance plan.
I might sell the accent and buy a used car and pay monthly(financing).
so that means the insurance has to be full coverage right? and not liability. (the maxima and the accent are both fully paid and they are under liability right now)
So if I buy a used car what is the best way to minimize the insurance cost?...which is a good insurance company? can I be covered under my dad's name or something? my friend said something like that..but I don't know if there is such a thing.
by the way my parents live in massachusetts and i live in NJ.
what should i do?
(don't tell me not to buy a car)

The #1 thing affecting your insurance cost is which car you buy. Talk to your agent in advance about a variety of cars. And not just "Camry Accord Sentra".. mix it up a bit. Use your imagination. And ask about different years. Buy a car that's cheaper to insure, it's that simple.
As you know, nowadays older cars can be perfectly reliable - buying a somewhat older car is a very good way to save a lot on both car and insurance. (doesn't really matter which one you save on, it's money in your pocket either way.)
If you owe money on the car, you MUST carry full coverage (liability + collision + fire/theft) but even that may not be enough. If you owe $10,000 but the blue-book is $8000, what does the insurance pay if it's totaled? ASK this of your insurer, it's a very important question!
Definitely talk to your current insurance agent. I'm sure he'd love to sell you a policy if that's possible, and many insurance companies discount for multiple car coverage. You will need to tell the insurance company you are in NJ.

the best way is to keep the cars in your parents name with you as a third/part time driver. Say your dad drives the more expensive car, you mom the other and you only on occasion.
