Do not use for cigars, it ruins the taste. Cigarettes taste bad anyway, so go ahead. Pipes are also a no. They are excellent for lighting things and doing cool tricks. Plus they look cool. If you need to light something in the wind, get a torch butane lighter. Just make sure not to touch a cigar to it as it will scorch it. This will ruin the flavor and you might as well have used a zippo.

Let's see......what can we use "fire" for? Lighting just about anything on fire. Yes, does leave a taste, residue in your mouth. The taste usually goes away after a couple puffs. Atleast, with my, probably poor, taste. Smoking out of a pipe is definitely not pleaseant; if you have to keep on lighting it. But, there are people that it just don't bother.
Zippos are also great for smoking outside in windy conditions. You can get a zippo that will probably light in a hurricane. Save you from turning your head, pulling your face over your head, or maybe even burning your nose

No, I haven't noticed any difference in flavour when I light a cigarette with a zippo.
I don't smoke anymore, but that's beside the point.
I hate cigars, smelly buggers..... lol.

it is use to light your cigars and cigarettes on a windy atmosphere and sort of to brag to everyone present you have a zippy lighter with big flames coming out when you light `em.It does give a different taste when you use this lighter using a match stick to some taste better.
