I just woke up with a case of the munchies, so I had a banana and a small cup of fruit. I feel guilty 'cause it's like 12:49 AM here, and you supposedly gain weight if you eat after 8:00...? :(

You did not ruin your diet. Eating one night after 8pm is not going to change much, if anything at all. Also, you picked healthy foods versus other foods.

You shouldn't diet. Lifestyle change is what you should go for. However you can eat whenever you want to eat. Your meal highest in calories should be 1st thing when you wake up. Maybe that is a myth too. As a personal trainer I always tell my clients to watch what they eat but not so much when they eat. As long as you watch your caloric intake and output and the intake isn't surpassing the output you are fine. If you can only eat before 7 what about those people who work 2nd and third shift and are asleep most of the normal day. Eating light at night is fine.

You can gain weight at any time of the day; calories are calories. If you eat more calories in a day than you need (usually about 2000/day), then you will gain weight. Fruit is very low in calories though, so I don't see why you're worried. It sounds like you need to stop obsessing so much about your weight. Just try to keep your meals reasonably healthy and exercise a few times a week and you'll be fine.

Find some information on safe dieting cause restricting is very dangerous. A banana and fruit is not much but if you feel guilty about that little, you are at risk for anorexia. Get some healthy information.

Diet myths:
If you eat late at night, the food turns straight into fat.

Not true.If your overall calories are appropriate for weight loss, you certainly can eat something after dinner. Late night calories will ultimately get used the next day (and even while you sleep).

However, for the sake of energy, it is always better to eat your calories during the day when your body needs the fuel. Plus, eating consistently throughout the day will stabilize blood sugar levels -- so you’ll feel energized and experience fewer cravings. If you are going to snack after dinner, I suggest choosing something 250 calories or less.

you ate healthy pretty low cal food i doubt you did much harm i'd worry if you ate like a bag of chips and a soda but not about fruit. it doesnt matter when you eat it's what and how much you eat. the reason they say dont eat after 8 is because your most likely tired and your most vulnerable to overeating that late at night because your not thinking clearly about what your eating

One slip most likely isn't going to ruin the whole diet. Just like smoking or drinking. If you slip just get back on the wagon and don't beat yourself up about it too much. I found diet combined with a thermogenic ( http://tinyurl.com/23uqng ) works best for me when trying to lose weight.

No-- Actually some fruit will help you sleep more soundly. Just don't make it a habit of doing it so late. Try to eat before 7 pm. I like pears myself.

Youve shattered your beginning GH (growth hormone) release time,(it peaks at @ 3am) yet didnt ruin your diet....Next time, drink a HUGE glass of water all at once - its a natural appetite suppressant

OH well sweetie. It's better then eating a pizza. Even if you did "slip up" it's not that bad. Don't feel so bad about yourself.. There are those that like you anyway.
