Can you close the closet door??
What if you put the kitty litter box in the closet? Once he starts using it there, slowly start moving it farther and farther from the closet til you have it where you want it. Hopefully he will follow..

I do not know if this actually works, but I've heard that if you spray Lemon Juice, the 100% type, not fake, anywhere you do not want a cat or dog, that they hate it so much they will stay away.

I do know this, cats are happiest wtih a secluded place to go. So he/she may be using the closet instead of the cat box for htat reason. Make sure your cat box is cleaned daily; most cats won't use a dirty box. When I had a cat and it was a baby and wanted to go everywhere, a vet told me, just run their nose in whatever you find, every time and they'll learn it's not okay. Oh, and after rubbing their nose in it, you take them to their cat box and show them that is where they are to go. It took me a month with my new cat and he never again went anywhere in the house except it's box.

Good luck!

First the closet must be cleaned to get the smell out. DO Not use anything containing ammonia in it because urine has ammonia and the cat will think "Yup this is the place"...Next cover the whole area with aluminum foil...Cats hate the feel of it on their feet....Then you can get pepper from the kitchen and pepper the foil just a little..
Next you must gently train the cat to use the litter box...Usually this can be done by taking any "solid" waste that he has left in the closet and putting it into the cat box...He will recognize his own smell and be more receptive to going in the box.

Plug in an electric pest repeller into an outlet near your closet.
It will not hurt your cat but the silent electronic sounds will make your cat stay away. It's some sound that humans can't hear, but animals can.
It's meant for ants, flies, spiders, and rats, but I think you can still use it on other animals too.Maybe at Home Depot I think.
Or just close the door.:(

Be very cautious and watch your kitty.....if cats quit consuming all of the sudden - it will not be the meals. Cats will ordinarily quit consuming if they're ill (i.e. Urinary tract illness, blockage, belly discomfort). Watch her cautiously, is she performing usual rather then simply now not consuming? Has she used the muddle field? Now if the whole thing else is usual - attempt to select one of the crucial new coloured portions out of the meals and notice if that is helping. If now not, I've been there and performed that seeking to transfer my cats meals earlier than they're "capable". They are cussed little creatures and can make themselves ill earlier than they difference their meals! One manner I were effective is hanging their consistent meals within the bowl and utilizing the brand new meals as "treats" till time to wholly intergrate it in. Now if she nonetheless would possibly not devour for yet another day or so. Take her to the vet, cats can get very unwell by way of now not consuming and now not utilizing the litterbox. Hope this is helping and please do not deliver a cat milk (cow's) they do not have the capacity to digest it and its now not well for them....

if your cat is neutered he/she may not be using the litter box because he/she is sick or upset those are the two top reasons cats boycott the litter box (number 3 is a litter box not being clean enough) if kitty is still pooping in the litter box but peeing outside of it it is a sign of kidney problems and time for a vet. there are sprays made to strongly discourage kitty from bath rooming elsewhere but be sure to thoroughly clean the area with ammonia first also locating food and water there may help because cats will not do their business where they eat. good luck

I would try putting the litter box in there, then slowly moving it back to where you want it to be. I have used Eucalyptus Essential Oil,,,several drops in a small spray bottle with water and sprayed it over the area I didn't want them using the bathroom on,,,and they hate that smell,,,it worked for me.
