I chemically relaxed my hair a few months ago and now I would like to dye my hair 1 color. Is there a good dye out there that is good for brunettes and that won't really damage my hair from the relaxer that's already in my hair?

Get some help from a professional... ok! It is bad to use too many chemicals on your hair too close together... but the good thing is that you have waited some time between them! I also believe that if you get help from a professional colorist, you will be happier with the result... and the store bought hair dyes are not always a good idea, some have metallic compounds and the look will not be as good... besides it might be counteracting with the chemicals from the straightener! Call your favorite stylist or at least ask the same questions to them as you did here! Good luck !

I would not suggest you do it at home. I would have it done professionally especially if you relaxed your hair on your own. The more you process your hair (any kind) the more damage you do. However, if your hair is healthy enough and it's really been 3 month since you relaxed it, you would probably have no problems. I still highly suggest a professional color though.

If you want to relax and color same day you can use a Semi-Permanents like Clairol's Beautiful Collection. Its made specifically for relaxed hair. The product gives you rich tones.(deep wine) but this product doesn't lighten. To get relaxed hair lighter hair has to be permanently dyed. You have to wait at least 2 weeks after relaxer for this process, you did that so I recommend Clariol textures & tones.
I hate to sound like an advertisement but I used these for years. oh if your going blonde make sure the box says booster package included the powder needs to be added to the activator so it can strip dark color out and give you blonde hair.

Products run about $4-$6 look for semi permanent in beauty salon and txt&tones found everywhere.

Consider using a color rinse until all the damaged hair has either recovered, or grown to the point where you can cut the damaged hair.

Chemicals that "relax" hair are very strong and ultimately damaging. Its a treatment best left to salons.

Id think about going to a salon If I were you, have your hair cut and pick the stylists brain on treatments.

You should definitely see an experienced stylist. Over processing can cause your hair to break off at the roots, especially with chemical relaxer. Over the counter color is too risky and could be too harsh. Semi-permanent color would be safe, since there is no amonia. People should only use permenant color when covering grey anyway.

its not a great idea if ur hair is in a bad way a lot of peoplecolour and relax their hair and it starts falling out...this is due to the lack of conditioning so if your going to go there moisturize daily and deep condition weekly and u shouldnt have a problem.....why not try garnier nutreese cream this could be a better option of hair dye but u havent really said what colour u want to dye it...

Over processing your hair is never good. Anytime you are going to put chemicals in your hair you should let a professional do it and let a professional maintain it b/c it can have a negative affect on you the same day or months later.

The more processes you have done the more damage you do to your hair. Remember hair is not a living thing so it can't repair itself. There's always the chance it could start breaking.

If you hair is in good condition?
You should have no problem since its been a few months since the other chemicals were used
If not in tip top condition? dont do it until you've got it in better shape

yes mine started breaking off in chunks...not sexy. if you plan on going darker it won't do that much damage. try natural instincts it does the least damage to hair a dye can do.
