You have to be very patient and gentle with young animals. If you play rough with them they think aggression is a good thing and that's what you want from them. My kitten was sort of psycho when I got her and she would never let anyone approach her to pet or anything. She'd pull away and run off. Now 2 years later I've finally got her to trust people and accept slowly approaching to pet her or pick her up. It took a lot of gentle playing and approaching her slowly when she's tired and sleepy to pet her or rub her tummy and talk quietly to her. I do this every night before going to bed and now if I miss it she comes to my bed to get me and asks for some attention. Take your time and give him some loving attention so he knows he's safe. Also have him neutered if you haven't already. It helps keep males less aggressive and happier.

Think like a cat. Is he protecting something? Is he letting you know that he doesn't like being handled? Its hard to say exactly why gets aggressive without knowing what is going on around him when he gets aggressive. If he is aggressive for no reason take him into the vet for a checkup. Animals are really good at hiding illnesses.

I've found that sometimes my kitties bite me cos I have recently used a hand cream/body lotion/shampoo that for some reason they have a reaction to. Could this be true for you? Once the fresh smell of whatever I've been using has worn off, they're fine and are as loving to me as ever.

Also, if I'm petting them and they've had enough they show it by biting/scratching me. That's my sign to stop whatever I'm doing with them. Maybe it's your signal too?

Other than that, mine are so loving towards me. You just have to read their signals and try and work out what's bothering them :)

Good luck.

Some cats definitely have a "cat"itude. We often used rescue remedy for cats that seem to have issues with "stress". It is a liquid that can be added to their drinking water or a few drops on the paws. I don't have the link, but you can google Bach's Rescue Remedy and there is information about pets.

Its a phase he is going through. Here is how you fix it.
Put him in your lap or on the bed and play gently with him. Pet him, skritch behind the ear. As soon as he starts the biting and clawing you say sharply "NO!" and put him on hte floor, saying NO again

It wont last long
