Most dogs enjoy eating raw bones, but as was mentioned before, they must be uncooked and larger bones.
I feed chicken backs and thighs raw a few days per week and my dogs have no problems with them.
Due to the fact that she has not had raw meat or bones previously, she might have some loose stool due to the introduction of new food (happens with many new foods), but she will adjust. I would speak to my veterinarian if I had any further questions.

Never feed cooked chicken bones or cooked bones of any type. I feed my dogs and cats a raw diet which includes bones. If they are not cooked dogs and cats can eat them fine. I have been doing this for several years and have had no problem. With the recent recall I can honestly say that I feel much safer with the human grade food I feed my furkids that what comes off the pet store shelves.

I have heard that it happens and I think it has more to do with dogs that haven't experienced eating them but i think it depends on if the dog has become use to eating them and has accustomed themselves to eating them there less likely to run the risk as I have grew up with feeding dogs all bones cooked and raw ( including chicken bones the only one I take out is the splinter bone in the leg) as all my family ( dad feed them that way, his dad feed them that way) have done it. All my dogs have been fine and healthy and none of them required any vet care because they have had cooked bones. And in away (may differ from ours) dogs do kind off cook bones as well when they burry them in the yard and than pull them out all rotten, stinky and partially cooked because of the heat in the ground. And dogs are scavengers and it is believed that that's how dogs where domesticated they relied on or scraps and garbage for food because it was easy.

it is NEVER safe to feed dogs poultry bones. The reason being that bird's bones will splinter when they are chewed on and get lodged in their throats tearing their throats from the inside or even choking them. I know this is a bad example but if you've ever swallowed a tortilla chip that was still hard by accident that is probably what it feels like only worse ha ha and imagine the feeling of splinters being inside your throat. That is why you should never feed a dog poultry bones no matter how big, small, young or old.

No, No and NO!!!!!

Chicken bones are too porous and therefore splinter which can get caught in a dog/puppy's throat. IF by chance the dog swallows the bone, because it splinters, it could perforate the intestinal walls. Never give chicken bones to a dog.

IF your dog kills a chicken and eats it, then that is different because dogs will also eat the skin and feathers which coat the bones so they don't cause them harm.

If you want to give your dog bones which are a good source of calcium for them, go to your local butcher for proper beef bones. Mine love ham hocks, pig feet and ears, and cow leg bones.

I have heard that chicken bones splinter and can cause damage to your dog's intestines. Also it is possible that your dog could choke on the bone once it splinters. Beef and pork rib bones are good because the dogs just knaw on them and they dont break apart like a chicken bone can.

The problem with chicken bones and I have seen this happen, the bone when chewed splinters and can rip the throat and they could choke........if they dont chew the bones well enough then it can cause bowel problems..........try passing a big splinter...........wouldnt feel too good.........try going to your local butcher and getting a cow leg bone. They love those when they are cooked for a long time cause there is little bits of meat still on the bone and they will most likely chew on it for weeks........but always supervise your pets with bones and chew toys. I never give my dogs chicken or pork bones.

Never feed a dog cooked chicken bones. Raw bones are okay, although chicken legs have that spindly little bone so you should probably remove that first.

Yes as long as they are UNCOOKED. Never feed cooked bones and only give them to her when you are home and supervising. Size them appropraitely. A small dog might need you to cut them up a bit. Don't feed weight bearing bones (such as legs). Usually chicken thighs, wings and backs are fed or turkey necks.

I don't think I would give the dog even cooked one. It only takes once to damage the dog. In saying that I have known people who give their dogs cooked chicken bones all their lives and had no problems. Good luck.
