Bring baked goods (brownies, muffins, bread) and talk to the neighbor.
Tell them it bothers you and ask them for solutions.
Get together with neighbors and go over together. (bring the baked goods)
Offer to buy a bark collar.
Bribe the dog with hot dogs and cheese. If you toss it something yummy whenever you go out there, it might look forward to seeing you and be quiet. Worth a shot anyway.

Does the dog bark only when you walk out the door or all the time?

Either way I would talk to the owner's of the dog first. They may not know that you are bothered by it. You wouldn't want it to go on and the owner's not know that you are bothered by it.

If it's really bad and you have asked them numerous times, you can call the police and it can be considered a noise complaint if the owner's aren't cooperating and the barking doesn't stop.

Introduce yourself to the dog. Play with them. Convince them you are not a threat, and make sure they know that you are person coming out that particular door.

My dog hates the dog across the hall and he barks whenever they open the door. He just knows that big mean dog lives over there, and he doesn't like him. He wants to make sure that other dog knows this is his house. Your enemy dog is doing the same thing, protecting his territory.

You have to make him realize you are not a threat to his area, or you could just ignore it. If you decide to do that, make sure you don't give the dog any reaction when it barks. Don't even flinch, don't look in his direction. So you have two options... make friends, or ignore it.

Note: I do not tell my dog to stop barking at things. He is well within his right to protect our territory. If he's being agressive, that's different, but if he's simply announcing himself then it's cool. If this dog is running back and forth by the door with his nose pushed into it barking directly at your feet, he's being aggressive and his parents need to train him to cut it out. If he runs around and barks up into the air, he just wants you to know he's there. Dogs that are aggressive against minor threats, like people walking around, are not happy dogs.

Maybe you could talk to the owner and get the little pooch to like you then it wont bark at ya. See if you can give it some treats. If it just hates everyone well then maybe the owner will be cool enuff to get control of its barking. I have 4 dogs myself and do my best not to allow exessive barking but its tough sometime........good luck!!

Maybe you should go buy the dog some treats and everytime you go out the door give him one after about a week or so he'll probaly be waiting for you without yapping. You may even realize that you'll be looking forward to the ritual cause you made a new friend.I mean Geez would it kill ya to be nice to him its just alittle dog doing what he assumes is his job.

giveing him treats for barking at you isnt a good time to reward him. he will them not know what hes doing wrong. i would tell the owner your issue, if the owner isnt willing to work with you you may have to call animal control an tell them an maybe he will listen to him. but make sure you try talking to owners a few times before you do that to assess how much they care. theres no reason for you to live in misery, an you have no obligation to befriend a dog you dont want to befriend thats not your job. its the owners job to work with you are keep the dog at bay

it probably barks just because it sees you. it might bark because it views you as a threat or because it wants to play. if it's not barking any other time i wouldn't really see it as a problem.

If it barks more often than that then go visit your neighbor and ask them if they can do something about it
