I wouldn't worry about most veggies (with exceptions to avocado (high in fat - good fat, but still should limit intake), potatoes, starchy veggies and the like). Most are really low in calories and fat and high in beneficial nutrients.

Fruits on the other hand are high in sugar, so would probably count their calories. Personally, I try to keep my fruit intake to early on in the day so I know I'll be able to burn off the sugar.

Hope this helps... Check out www.sparkpeople.com if you want to check out the calories in fruit and veggies.

From what I have learned, fruit has approximately 60-80 calories per half a cup. And veggies vary. If you eat potatoes, corn or peas they have starch and carry more calories. 1/2 cup of potatoes is equal to 1/2 cup of pasta! So yes it is necessary to count calories from your fruits and veggies. Especially if you are counting calories to lose weight!!!

Calories are calories no matter where they come from. People typically consume more fruits and veggies on diets because they usually have fewer calories to count.
