I was diagnoised with Fibromyalgia/RA. I was wondering if there is different levels of Fibromyalgia. I know I have days when I feel like I could just break. My poor husband can't even touch me sometimes cause I cringe in pain. Sometimes if the hair on my arms are moved it sets a wave of pain. I have found warmth as a big reliefer.

hello, fello fibro sufferer here. I've had it for 8 years now. I'm assuming that what you mean by "levels" are varying degrees of pain in different people and on different days? Yes. the pain of fibro can wax and wane over time and can vary in intensity. also, no two fibro sufferers experience the condition the same way. We may have the same symptoms, but our pain levels and experiences can be different from each other and each day is a new struggle. You never know what the next day will be like.

The best thing to do is find a doctor that is sympathetic to your condition and is willing to treat your pain and not dismiss you!! be patient in getting the proper meds too, each person is different so getting the right combo may take a while. this makes all the difference in the world! another very important aspect of the condition is for family and friends to be educated on your condition so they can understand why "you just don't feel up to it" today. it takes a period of adjustment for everyone, not just the sufferer. I wish you the best of luck, and know that you are not alone in your condition.

I have fibromyalgia, too, and while it is not a degenerative disease it CAN get worse over time for some people (it can also get better over time, but I've rarely heard of that happening except in cases where people find out what they had wasn't actually fibromyalgia and they treat the underlying disease).

There are no official levels for fibromyalgia... however, there are people who have FMS who are high-functioning with mild fatigue, mild chronic pain, mild GI issues, mild cognitive impairment. There are also people with FMS who are bedbound, housebound, wheelchair users, have to take morphine, unable to work, and on disability. Most of us are probably somewhere in between.

That's known as a fibro flare and one of the worst aspects of fibro, imo. you never know when the intensity of the disease will suddenly increase.

However, sometimes what you do can bring on a flare. On the days you feel almost like your old self, you *must* be careful not to act like your old self and overdo. you will pay for it for the next three days with agonizing pain and exhaustion.

stress can also bring on a flare. some people have found that a poor diet can also bring on a flare.

keep a health diary. what you did each day, how tired you were, if you needed to nap, what hurt and how much it hurt. you'll be able to see a pattern soon and will be able to adjust your life so you can live to the maximum with a chronic illness.

I was diagnosed with fibro but I also have a thyroid condition that caused the tremors. Ask for a referral from your family doctor to go to an endocrinologist and have a complete blood work up. The tremors were the first symptom I had of the thyroid problems and had been dealing with the fibro for at least a year prior to it. Good luck and I hope they can figure it out soon.

Hello. I do not have fibro, but i do have ra... i know there are some days that are good and others that are bad. The weather can cause pains as well as other illness ( i have a hellasious cold right now) can make me feel bad. With meds, I have pretty regular and even keeled days, but none are pain free.
