i would go with the navy...there are many countries that can rival our ground and air forces, however the US navy is the most powerful navy in the world...the training is excellent, the heritage is deep, and once you put on the uniform, the respect is well earned...our country is safe because of 2 major waters that surround us (pacific & atlantic)...as long as the navy exist, so will this country......alot of people have a misconception when it comes to the navy as nothing more than a bunch of sailors who spend their days in the water...the last i heard, there are also navy pilots who fly the most sophisticated aircrafts...SEALS who are trained to operate on covert and classified missions...corpmens who are part of a marine platoon and must administer first aid when somebody gets hurt....also, the navy has a chaplain corp that travels throughout the world to spread the word of God and give spiritual blessings towards our troops...i have alot of respect for all the branchs of the military...they are fighting for our freedom which allows the rest of us to sleep well at night...they sacrifice so much so that our kids and future grand children can live a life of hope and peace.......long live freedom.

ASFAB? Is this a new military test? Every branch is respectable. As long as you have your heart with that branch you'll be fine.
RADM J. Starks once said this:
"It occurred to me that the services could be characterized by different breeds of dogs.
The Air Force reminded me of a French Poodle. The poodle always looks perfect...sometimes a bit pampered and always travels first class. But don't ever forget that the poodle was bred as a hunting dog and in a fight it's very dangerous.
The Army is kind of like a St. Bernard. It's big and heavy and sometimes seems a bit clumsy. But it's very powerful and has lots of stamina. So you want it for the long haul.
The Navy, God bless us, is a Golden Retriever. They're good natured and great around the house. The kids love 'em. Sometimes their hair is a bit long....they go wandering off for long periods of time, and they love water.
Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean or skinny and mean. They're aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They've got really short hair and they always go for the throat.
That's why I like Marines!!!"

All branches are respectable. You need to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life and go from there. Pick your job and branch and run with it.
Good luck

It really depends on what you want to do (both in the service and once you get out).
I would say overall, the Marines are probably the most respected out of all the services.
But if you are looking for great training that you can apply to a civilian career as well, the Air Force is the way to go.
EDIT: Please... god, people are so mis-informed! An estimated 3% of Air Force personnel actually fly. The remaining majority of us do regular jobs on the ground!

There is no one branch more respectable than the other. Everyone of them is full of great men and women who are willing to pay the ultimate price to give you and I the ability to click on a keyboard and BS all night.
No matter what you choose I, for one, will thank you and sincerely appreciate you for the rest of my life.

Well, when I've walked near a military base here in California, there have been serveral instances of picking up a conversation with some of the servicemen stationed there. It is the consensus of many there that the Air Force will take care of you best. As one put it, "The money we spend on defence is mostly gonna go to the planes and bombs, and the money is gonna spread to those directly near them, so, if I were to start all over again, I'd prolly join the Air Force, since they are always well taken care of with supplies." I hope this helps you with your choice, God Bless.

All the services are respectable.
However, the Coast Guard shows a lot of class.
On a regular basis sees more action than the other branches.
Wide areas of responsibility.
Maritime distress assistanceof all kinds, military & civilian.
Drug interdiction.
Coastal security, air & sea
Assistance to other branches of service. Vietnam, Gulf.
& probably a mess of other things we never hear about that they do & never get the credit for.

They are all respectable, but lets be realistic if you have a choice between a foxhole out in the desert and the cockpit of a jet fighter, where you gonna go?

They are all respectable so it depends on what you would like. I kind of think that those Navy jet fighter pilots that take off and land on aircraft carriers are pretty hot.
