I am a Traditional Satanist. Some would say a 'reverse christian'. I do not vandalize xian churches or sacrifize children. But I do worship the Advesary. The Fallen Angel.

Crowley was a Thelemite [well, started it], not a Satanist.
Satanists go for themselves, and Theistic Satanists for Satan [Luciferians are a different animal, they worship 'Divine Rebellion']

LaVeyan Satanists (Church of Satan) are hedonistic atheists. They only view Satan as a symbol of what they believe and stand for. All the ritual and magick is just a psychological attempt to break away from the things that have been instilled in our heads from tradition religion -- its not really an attempt to call on the power of Satan or manipulate the universe.
Theistic Satanists worship Satan as a deity. Satan is both equally male and female, and has several incarnations -- in fact, some Theistic Satanists don't relate to Satan as he appears in the Bible, but view him as Pluto, Set, or Hades of more ancient mythologies. Theistic Satanists believe that Satan is a necessary force in the universe, that God and Satan are equal and opposing forces, like two sides of the same coin. Neither God nor Satan is ultimately good or evil, both are forces that can be used for either. The balance of Satan and God provides harmony to the universe. Theistic Satanists simply relate better to the qualities that Satan represents than those of God. It doesn't mean that they despise God or his followers, they just happen to relate to the opposing side.
Those who practice Diabolatry are "devil worshippers". They're basically reverse Christians. They view themselves as the servants of evil and the enemies of good, and that Satan is the God of all things evil. They're usually the ones that cause such a stir -- spray painting "666" on church signs and such.

It's complex subject but I try to be brief here. Theistic Satanists worship Satan but in my opinion it don't disturb self worship, it even promotes it. It would be disrespectful toward Satan to treat myself in other way (Satan lead us to develop our divinity) - that's the way I feel it and many others as well. Self worship is also usually a part of traditional Demonolatry. There are also people who feel more natural to be submissive and stress that way of behaving so they put Satan on the first place and themselves right after Satan. I believe it depends on character. It would be definitely against my nature to be submissive but many prefer it. I think that both ways are equal important and in fact don't differ too much. It just shows the way we behave toward entity (Satan in this case) we deeply love.

I read the Satanic bible, and from what I got from it, they don't worship themselves. They have pride in themselves. They don't think they should be denied the things that are instinctual for a normal human being.....like lust, gluttony, and pride.
"Blessed are the strong for they will inherit the earth, cursed are the weak for they inherit the yoke."
-Satanic Bible
When people are ignorant of things, they tend to fear them and/or place labels and stereotypes on them. Satanists are purely human. They don't let religious dogma ruin their indulgences and earthly pleasures.
And that's what I like about Satanism.....But regarding whether they ACTUALLY worship Satan or not.....I'm not sure. In my case, I think the Satanic philosophy is common sense, in and of itself.......I just personally prefer not to worship deities or anything for that matter. I just have philosophies and beliefs that are congruent to my own life, education, and experiences.

all in all i believe that most satanists i know worship themselves and the one and only god Satan. however they do not rely on Satan to make all their inner most hopes and dreams come true . Satanism promotes knowledge and the ultimate source for knowlege.
i mean it only seems to make sense why would one do a ritual to dedicate themselves to a god if they didn't believe that he really existed if you would like to find more information in the future i would suggest going to joy of Satan instead of yahoo answers to receive the truth about satanism
hail Satan!!!!!!!

Proper Satanists worship themselves, not believing in external gods. Movie satanists/Setists or other deity-believing LHP groups worship external beings.

They don't worship Satan. They don't believe in Satan. Satan is just a metaphor to them, a symbol of human nature.

A true Satanist worships Satan.
As for you being a God, Mormons believe that they can become Gods, Mormonism is a cult.
