When I was younger, I believe whole-heartedly in creation. Then, as I got older, went to college, and did some more reading, I realized there is a lot more evidence for what scientists claim (this may sound vague, but I'm trying to make a long story short). I also took another look at the writings that try to promote creationism. Virtually all of them are devoted to knitpicking evolution, while almost none of them present any evidence that everything began with a naked couple in a garden and a talking snake.
To be perfectly blunt, this is not a good argument. As any intro to logic student will tell you, disproving claim A does not automatically prove B; in other words, evolution could very well be wrong, despite the vast evidence supporting it, but that would not automatically make creationism right.
So...in the interest of briefness, I'll get to the point: what evidence is there for a literal interpretation of the Bible?

Also, I have also realized that most of the claims that creationists make about evolution are either distorted or wrong.

Bella> Yes, I do realize that scientists have been wrong. But I do want to point out that your analogy of blowing up electronics stores and finding a perfectly designed robot in the rubble is a distortion. That is not how evolution works.

I am a medical student, and the more and more I study the human body and how it works...makes me scratch my head and wonder HOW in the world people could NOT believe that there is a Divine Creator?
Evolution doesnt make sense to me. How can things "evolve" to perfect themselves when they do not know they are lacking? *shakes head*
I would say there are literal and figurative parts to the Bible...some say the books of the Prophets and Revelations are figurative, others say literal. Depends on who you ask.
Haha...this reminds me of a story I heard once...
*Scientists who have perfected "cloning" and "creating a human" went before God, and said "Look, we have made life, now you can move over!"
They bent over, and grabbed a handful of dirt.
God shook his finger at them and said, "Oh. no. You go and make your own dirt first!"
Science may think they have found all the answers....but they really havent.
And the whole "carbon dating" theory is a load of bull, b/c 50 yrs ago, a coal miners hat was left at the bottom of one of the shafts...present day team took samples (after it was found) and by the carbon system, dated it to be well over a thousand years old, when it was really only 50 or so.

Ok, I'm a Christian and believe whole heartedly in Creation. When I'm debating evolution and proving that alot of the evidence supporting it is wrong (proven wrong by many scientists from both sides of the story) I am not necessarily trying to prove Creation. What it does point to is Intelligent design. And if there is an intelligent design, there must be a designer. As someone one said (I don't remember who, it was someone on this site) for me to believe evolution possible, you would have to blow up a couple electronic shops and then sift through the rubble and find a completely intelligent, programmed robot that wasn't there before. Or roll a hundred dice a hundred times and have it land on the same number every time. This would not ever happen unless the dice were fixed. Which implies a PERSON.
You said you acknowledge that evidence provided by Christians is pretty much all wrong. Do you acknowledge that a lot of the 'evidence' supporting evolution has been proven wrong??

Maybe creationists think evolution was a tool used in creatiion.
It is kind of like a painting. The paints blend and make new colors. The colors blending together does not make the picture. It is the artist putting the paints on the canvas that makes the picture.
Who knows exactly how long it took to create the Earth.
Evolution was probably a tool used in creation

How frequently do you talk calculus on a each and on a daily basis foundation? yet there's a arithmetic area that's crammed with math Q's. it is in basic terms a directed communicate board for such subject concerns. Out of the three hundred million in the U.S., you may wager some hundred people talk approximately feminism on a each and on a daily basis/weekly foundation. This communicate board is a centred component to the inhabitants. of direction, we even have those from different continents here besides.

Clearly, there is no evidence for a 'literal' interpretation of Genesis. I think most christians understand that. If you want to believe in the genesis story, take it as a metaphor. No one in their right mind is trying to prove creationism as it is displayed in the Bible.
I think that if you want the real arguments for why creationism is a logical choice, you've come to the wrong place. Most people here who say it is logical are not going to give you the real, thought out reasons I don't think.

You're absolutely right of course. No one can provide evidence for the creation story. There is no evidence for anything in the Bible with the exception of a few people and places written about elsewhere.

Try reading darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe. Read it for yourself and not just reading the ciritcs. If possible aquire the tenth edition as it ansers critics criticisms. he is one of the propnents of the intellgient design movement who has introduced terms such as irreducible complexity. Also read The Icons of evolution by Molecular and cell Biologist Jonathan Wells.

None. The authors of the Bible (i.e., the Jews) recognized that it is not meant to be taken literally word for word.
Maimonides is a pretty reliable source on this matter.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.
Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!
Flame me if you must ...
