When my appendix ruptured I was in the hospital for 6 days, it all depends on the doctor, your general health and how badly it is (mine had been ruptured probably at least 2 days). Each person heals at a different rate.

Usually a severe pain in the lower right quadrant is indicative of appendicitis. Today, they can do the operation by laporoscopy which is much shorter and safer than the old way of actually cutting into the stomach to remove the diseased appendix. Recover y is swift. If the infection is under control, they get you out of bed the next day.Keep you for a day or two so that you can get out of bed and walk , and home you go.

Don't worry. Unless her appendix has already ruptured, this is a very simple surgery. I had it myself 4 years ago. The current common procedure is to make 3 small incisions (one on the lower left side of the abdomen, one in the belly button, and one on the upper right side of the abdomen) and remove the appendix that way -- laproscopically. Recovery time is minimal -- your sister will probably stay in the hospital overnight, but that's it. Stitches are usually removed one week post-surgery and that's it! No big deal at all.
Hang in there...she'll be fine.

hiney if they took her in the ambulance she will be just fine. if it is appenisitise then they will get her in tonight and have it done really soon. the pain is in the lower part of the stomach and is usually centralized on one side or the other. most people say it is the left side but i have seen it on the right as well ( the pain i mean).she will be in the hospital for a couple of days and then sent home and put on very light activities for a week or so. dont worry so much and help her as you can when she gets home

It may be appencitis, or it may just be a gall stone or something. That happened to my friend. Your sister's going to be monitored, the hospital will watch her and see if she shows all the signs of appendicitis. They'll decide what to do.

In TN its considered as same day surgery. When my husband had his gallbladder removed (lazer) he was driving the next day and getting around like nothing had happened.
