I know taking more than prescribed of anything is a bad idea. I merely want to know out of curiosity. So you don't need to tell me I'm stupid.

Unfortunately there is no magic pill that will make you happy, if there was it would sell like hot cakes, what am I talking about? Antidepressants sell like hot cakes. Ok, it would sell even more. The thing is, you are the only one that knows what makes you happy. Personally as I suffer from depression, I find spending time with close friends helps. Sometimes it is hard to drag yourself out of the house, or even out of bed, but you have to and you will feel better for it.

Getting exercise is a great way to improve your mood, strenuous exercise makes you release endorphins (an opiate like substance in your brain), which lighten your mood and can dull both physical and mental pain. I find that I sometimes get migraine like headaches that are immune to paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen and even codeine, the only thing that makes them go away is to run really hard till my legs hurt. It's called a runners high, it takes some effort but you will feel better for it. I'm sure there are other things that make you happy, you just have to remember what they are and remember that you deserve to be doing those things, and you deserve to be happy.

Best of luck

You could ask your physician about taking Effexor XL.
It has a Serotonin and Norepinephrine modulators which does make one feel a lot happier and at peace with the world.

I found that it produced too much Nausea and over sensitiveStomach Pains in me. I had to stop taking it.
But you need to try different cures to find the one that suites you.

Then you must set about changing the things in your life which are tying you up in knots.

There was a very good Scientific American Issue, some years back, on Depression. One article said that it could be the final outcome of frustration.
Intelligent animals try and try to solve something and then fall into long term depression when they fail.

Talk to your doctor!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Taking Codeine for Migraine has the effect of producing headaches indistinguishable from the migraine - except that they are cured by taking small taper off doses of codeine. If it is a true migraine these taper doses do not cure it.

No. It works by changing the balance of chemical transmitters in the brain. It takes upto two weeks for the effects of antidepressants to manifest. A high concentration for a short time does not do anything. Taking more than the optimal dose does not produce any additional improvement in the mood. Although it's a fairly safe drug, taking more than the prescribed dose may produce side effects not seen with normal doses.

NO, to take more will not make you any more happier not even for a little while. You know that taking more of any prescribed drug is bad so I won't call you stupid. Remember though curiosity killed the cat!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Throw that nasty evil crap away NOW!!! It will make you a senseless zombie! A walking numbskull literally! Even taken as directed is bad for you! I took it for depression and it snuck up on me and erased my memory. I couldn't even remember how old I was much less what I had learned that day. Aspirin works better than prozac. That stuff shouldn't be on the market for any reason!

No, antidepressants don't work that way, hon. Prozac may not even work for you at all, and it may cease working, or your doc may have to tweek your script with it, something else, or with a new one. Keep in touch with your doc, so that your depression remains under control
