Bush would have been grateful for an excuse to invade.
Liberals would want him to try to use diplomacy first.
Conservatives would be patting Bush's back saying great idea chief.

It doesn't matter if the hostages are British or American. Tehran is surrounded by 700 miles of dessert. There are millions of people living in Tehran, it will be a logistical nightmare.

I suspect that if they were Americans the situation would be entirely different.
Instead of having 15 Marines hostage, you'd have an Iranian ship at the bottom of the Persian Gulf, and Nancy Pelosi would be howling for the resignation of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I'd think the Marines would fight to the death rather than be captured, if all else fails Delta Force would have gotten them out already.
