No, it's an act of desperation of a fatally flawed worldview, just like their attacks on science.
They don't have much else left, and tapping into people's homophobia and ignorance are about the most effective tools they've got.

For some yes for others no, however judging from several interactions with them they seem to display a "we are right you are wrong" and an "only our religion is the correct one" attitude. That in itself does not put them in the same crowd as haters but it displays a dangerous attitude that has to often led to terrible crimes against all humanity. Also a good folks on the Christian right are descendents from folks who were involved in organizations such as the KKK. They are welcome to voice their ideas and suggestions but must appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and not espouse hate and a supremicist attitude. On another note They seem similiar to other groups of whom have had some nobel goals and ideas and goals while others did not. One a final thought if we look at history , name me a single theocracy that worked and where all are equal and the true religous values of respect, hope , compassion, tolerence, humility, openness and progress occured.

Why is it that the Internet seems to only have those who are one either extreme talking? What ever happened to the middle ground?
This is America people, land of the free, home of the brave, this is supposed to be the land where oppressed people went to escape persecution and have a better life.
The State of Liberty says "Give me your tired your poor and huddled masses yearning to be free" Notice she does not say "Give you white Anglo Saxon protestant born again christens who hate anyone who is not like them" (or fill in the blank with any group that hates anyone who is not like them) nor does she say "Give me your rich and powerful, those who can control the world"
This country, was founded on the belief that all men are created equal and that this is the country where all men (men as a race not as a gender) are free to pursue life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
What happened to the thought of live and let live? Of minding one's own business. Why on earth does anyone care who I sleep with, who I wish to make a home with, who I love? That is no one's business but my own.
America needs someone who is not from either extreme end of the political spectrum, we need someone who honestly has the interests of the people at heart, we need a leader who cares about education, health care, and the well being of the citizens.
I think that people need to look at the real ideals America was founded upon. I think that of anyone, the middle ground, the moderates need to be heard. I think that either extreme of the political spectrum is a scary scary thing that should be looked out for.

Don't be suckered in.
True Christians don't hate homosexuals.
I know you realize that.
I think you mean that lunatic fringe that call themselves Christians...thumping bibles. Mis-quoting scripture. Always telling people they are going to hell. Right?
Yes, those plank-eyes do more harm than good and need to step back. Pray and really listen. God is love not hate.
I am not condoning homosexual behavior.
They should try not to. But, they are human too.
And I don't hate people for being the way they are either.

Most people who claim to hate homosexuals are actually scared of their own sexuality.
True Christians accept everybody.

I think anyone who is a regular of Alternet is a left-winged liberal that yearns for socialism and fosters disdain for individualism, work ethic, and self reliance. So, anything you may have to say on this subject is totally irrelevent and completely biased to suit your personal need.

Christians are against homosexuality because it's wrong. A man and a man CANNOT procreate. They dont hate them, they just think it's wrong and it should not be happening. And unfortunatly in this day and age, it's "COOL" to be gay. Gays are running ramped. Thank god for AIDS. Its killing em by the hundreds.

That article is a bunch of nonsense. Christians say what is written in God's Word. It is not about "hate" - it is about "righteousness" and "Truth." We simply say what God has already said in His Word. It is not OUR words but GOD'S Word. You can "fight" against God all you want but He remains GOD....with the final Word, final judgment, final say. It is for the eternal good of every individual to obey what GOD says because his eternal future depends on it.

You've been duped if that's what you really believe. In fact, it's the other way around. I know of more left-wing, liberal, gays that hate and bash Christians all the time. You can see it all throughout Yahoo Answers. Where's the tolerance and acceptance you people preach?
Could you have provided a more biased source! Moron.

I don't know why they call themselves Christin if they hate. If one is really religious, shouldn't one follow the rules of ones chosen religion, rather than interpret it to fit ones own preconceptions?
