When I pull up 'Display' in the control panel and go to where I would change the picture on my desktop, I see pictures there that I deleted a long time ago, but I can still select them to make them my desktop picture. Is there anyway to get these pictures off this list? I want them gone, which is why I deleted them in the first place. I've tried right clicking, I've tried dragging them to the recycle bin, nothing works. Anyone have any other ideas?

Do a search for *.bmp from the root of your C: drive, set the view to Thumbnails and then delete any unwanted image files.
In addition to the desktop background, you may find other Microsoft media files that you don't want or need.

You need to search from the Root of C: to pick up all of the profiles under Documents and Settings. Don't forget to set it to search Hidden Files and folders.

Check the c:\windows\web\wallpaper folder for any of the files you "deleted"
