Yes, as long as you're only making soup for about 6 people or so. Depends on the size of the dutch oven.

If you're making STOCK on the other hand, a stock pot would be far preferable because the tall sides and narrower opening will allow for slower reduction and good stock is all reduction.

Do not cover stock, soup is another story, it depends on the recipe.

Sure! Why not? It's how I make beef stew over a campfire, or bean soup, or even minestrone. Chicken noodle soup works good, too. Just be sure you don't use the Dutch oven for food storage! Put leftovers in a proper refrigerator container and clean, dry and oil your Dutch oven within an hour of finishing the meal. NEVER leave it sit overnight, 'cause it'll rust overnight! And rust is a pain in the rear to get off an iron pot!

Yes! dutch ovens are sort of all-purpose cook ware.

Yes, I personally perfer to use my crockpot, so i can let it cook all day but dutch oven works ok.

you can but it may be a bit messy, better stick to a saucepan or a slow cooker
