I know everybody has one food that bothers their stomach. But pancakes? I feel like the weirdest person in the world! Sometimes it's embarrassing. This has been going on since I was about 15. I love pancakes, but they don't love me. Every time I eat them, I have to go to the bathroom within an hour. This is very confusing to me as I am now 24 and it still happens.

It could be the high fructose corn syrup in the pancake syrup, which can have a laxative effect. Or if the pancakes are buttermilk in type, or you drink milk with them, you may even have a bit of lactose intolerance, especially if other dairy products have this same effect on you.

Maybe it's the syrup and not the pancakes. Next time, try them with fruit and a little powdered sugar.

You could be a celiac, someone who has a severe allergy to gluten. You might want to get checked by a doctor.

Do other types of breads bother you?

There must be something in them that you're allergic to. Ask your doctor.
