Do you throw your shoes out your car window?

I was traveling down 204 out of Savannah this weekend and I noticed several shoes on the side of the road and on the road. I have seen this in other places and I am sure others have as well. I was just wondering how do they get there? And why?

Probably people will be throwing it off their car windows.
