do you mean volume? or as in an uppercut, where the hairs on the crown are up?
if volume, use a thick pommade and rub it in thoroughly and pull the roots, but leave the ends pretty free of it. then, just basically push it up and make it puff.
for the uppercut, you just cut the hairs along the back veryyyy short.

okay. so basically what you want to do is get out of the shower. and blow dry your hair. not like the blow dryer above your head, but below the hair that you want to poof out. if you have curly hair, and usually straighten it, you straighten it like you usually do, but at the hair you want to poof out, sort of curl the straightener under your hair before you release it. and some gel might help to keep the hair stiff. :] good luck!!
