We just had our floor tiled but an awesome guy who speaks mediocre english. As a result, we know he wants us to "wait" before we walk on it, but was unclear on how many days to wait. We asked "2 days? 3 days" and he said "sure." He grouted the whole thing on Sunday. Should we wait until Tuesday? Wednesday? Any thoughts?

24 hours is more than enough time

Ceramic tile, as set conventionally, should not be walked on for 24 hours after it is initially set. Even i you CAN walk on it after ten hours, you can damage the bond between the tiles, mortar and subfloor, possibly causing it to come lose in the future.

After tile is grouted (usually day 2), try to stay off the tile for another 24 hours to avoid damaging the grout while it hardens. As long as you avoid the grout lines during that time, there's really no reason to avoid the area; it's not nearly as important as the first 24 hours.

Hope that helps

The thin set I use to lay tile says 24 hours but I walked on it in as little as 10 hours. IE overnight.
Is the same fellow going to grout your floor? if so don't walk on it until he comes back.
