He went from the back to the front and had the car to beat at the end of the race, just fell short because he is a gentlemanly driver and didn't want to cause a wreck, and in most articles he was barely mentioned, and it sounded like Busch had the better car in most of them. It isn't just this race either. Everytime you watch on tv, listen for his name and get ready for a long wait. After the race they talked about the points race and skipped over the guy 3 points behind. In other races he'll finish in the top 5 or even in the top 2 or 3 after leading or having the best car for most of the day(he'll have the fastest laps many times in a race if you watch the speeds) and they don't even mention him half the time.

He doesn't make the headlines because he is so respectful on the race track. But, most articles you read that are not about a specific driver have quotes from Jeff in them. He is one of the most honost, respected and knowledgable drivers there are. For example, when Jeff Gordon had his duel incident, Burton went and checked it out. Burton said it was unsafe and unintentional. Because Burton said it, it was pretty much dropped. All the other drivers knew it was true (the unintentional part).

Plus, Jeff even jokes about how he is everyones second favorite driver. He understands that he is well liked, but since he in not in everyone's face, he isn't many people's #1 guy.

Jeff Burton is a good guy and has been one since he was in his prime in the late 90's. He never causes any trouble and through his efforts as the leading safety advocate among drivers, has helped implicate improvements to the cars and tracks. Not to mention he can still drive with the best of 'em...but I'm thinking he had memories of Vegas still in his mind when he came up on Kyle Busch. He's the last driver I would expect to rough someone up to win a race and when he got around Gordon, I knew it was in the bag unless he made a mistake.

It's sad to see that if you're name is not Gordon, Johnson, Stewart or Earnhardt, you don't get an ounce of attention unless your car's in the wall.

Amen brother! You are preaching to the choir.I am huge Tony Stewart fan,and Jeff gets the complete opposite of Tony when it comes to attention. If Tony says something ,every one is up in arms ,acting all disgusted. If Jeff says the exact same thing ,it's either ignored or forgotten. Most of the time these two men are in complete agreement, and are good friends. They are phenomenal drivers and both deserve a lot more than the average fan is willing to give them,in terms of respect for their opinion.

I'll agree. I like Jeff Burton. I was hoping it was going to turn out like the busch race in Las Vegas. Although all you heard about was how bush spun across the finish line for second. Burton could have had that one if he would have raced like you should at Bristol.

I agree with you. Jeff is one of the best drivers this year and not getting noted for it. I am a Sterling Marlin fan and I am use to it. Before the end of the year Jeff will show everyone what he is made of. When Sterling retires, Jeff will be my #1 driver.

I noticed this as well and I think that it is a crying shame. He is a good, clean, respectful racer who dosent cause wrecks for a better finish slot. I think he should certainly be mentioned more often and given his due respect for accomplishing all he has without the "oops-spun you-I win-sorry about that, it was unintentional-hehe"

when I see Jeff Burton i do no longer even observe his patches. i'm too busy watching HIM!!! that is not any longer proper to me what colour his patches are, he nonetheless is between the ideal Nascar drivers accessible and one hell of an elegant guy!!!!!! bypass Jeff Burton!!!!!

It's too bad. He's an exceptional driver, but the media doesn't want to hear it unless it's gonna make ratings. I wish more racers were like him. He doesn't complain or curse Nascar. He just drives and gives his best. I'm Dodge guy, but I find myself rooting him on everytime he has a chance.

Yea, I was thinking about that tonight. I would bet that the odds on him for Martinsville just took a different turn for the so called betting establishments, ie: Vegas!
