I have no idea what pin rot is but I do know that keeping dogs outside in kennels creates a huge number of very serious behavior problems. Biting and even killing of humans are a lot more likely in dogs kept in pens outside. Even dogs that seem friendly may bite or worse.

It sounds like it's possible he got something from the other dog. Possibly mange. There are two kinds of mange- one is fatal and the other is treatable. You will need to get your vet to do a test to find out which kind it is, or if it is something else entirely.

However, it could also be allergies.

Bring your dog back into the house with the family. Train him using positive methods and don't banish him to the outdoors to live out his life alone.

Please get the dog off Concrete! The pin should be pressure washed down on a regular basis to kill bacteria and cleaned with Bleach and water with the dog off till it's dry. Next you need a clean area off the ground for him to lay on. Build him a cot. Wash the dog in a Hartz Oatmeal Dog Shampoo. I would also use a Hartz Hydrocortizone spray for Dogs on the rash. You can get them at Walmart or Petco. If you keep him clean and off a nasty pavement and treat the skin with Hydrocortzone it should clear.
Try to heal the skin 1st, then if it still has a rash after 1 week with no improvement try a mange treatment from a farm and feed store in your area. If it still wont clear go to the vet , he will take a skin scraping and run tests to find out what it is. If a pin causes Pin Rot that's your fault for leaving a dirty pin! Keep it clean and dry!

Do you mean he lives in a "pen"? You should really pay attention and not carelessly let your pet be "bred" w/any dog w/out thoroughly inspecting the dog & its history first. Sounds like the vet is the best option, unless you can verify for sure that it is "pen rot", in that case, maybe a pet supply or farm/ranch store carries whatever medictions it may require.

Your dog lives in a PIN?. Should that be PEN like in a cage ?. And I've never heard of PINROT or PENROT for that matter. Sounds like you have a mangy ole dog.
