I am a straight A student in high school, and I always work very hard at school. I listen very well in class, and I try to do whatever homework I can before I go home. However, when I do get home, I feel like not doing anything, and just want to relax. I've been staying up later than ever because of this. How do I get rid of this bad habit of mine? I'm procrastinating even as I'm writing this question, and I haven't done my math homework yet.

You work hard at school, you're an A student; that is great. You deserve to let down when you get home. Staying up very late probably is not a good idea though.
Some people like a challenge. They wait until the last minute to do a task for they like working under pressure. Others need some time to think and get motivated to finish a task. You may be bored with routine. Change your study environment, use any creative way you can to make the routine seem new. Treat yourself when you have finished your work.

The payoff you acquire for procrastinating is absolutely the rationale why you discover your self repeating the sample. Procrastinators dispose of duties till the very final viable second for the reason that, at that l a s t second, there's a burst of vigour from adrenaline and neurotransmitters published in line with the severe pressure the mind is underneath. Procrastinators get a ordinary top, a ordinary euphoria, via ready till there's no extra time to look forward to finishing the challenge, if he/she desires to be successful. Many procrastinators are recognized for pronouncing, "I do my exceptional paintings underneath strain." That is honestly no longer the reality, but it surely justifies the ready as a invaluable purpose. The undeniable fact that you're feeling so worn out and could instead no longer do the paintings immediately is one more component. If you're worn out all the time, it can be that you just unknowingly seem ahead to the frenzy on the final minute for the reason that you want a boost out of the common day-to-day fatigue. I've found out the difficult manner that early and regular instruction honestly prevents the day-to-day fatigue to some degree....I get a "moment wind," a brand new burst of vigour for the reason that I'm tackling some thing that's difficult and I recognise I will triumph over the challenge. Now THAT brings a REALLY well feeling....and it's MUCH higher than the final-minute harassed-out vigour carry and next vigour crash. (Okay, Saccade, be high-quality!) Consistency is what your frame demands, what your mind demands, and what you as an man or woman have got to discover break out from the ever-reward intellectual fatigue.

Firstly, ask yourself is this procrastination because of fear of the wrong decision or is it just a little bit of laziness which you feel you have earned because you have worked hard at school

Try taking the step of going forward regardless of the consequences. Of course only do this if you know that consequences wont be too large if your decision was the wrong one. Regardless of the result, this may be a way of passing through that barrier that you have placed into position. Remember that it takes about three weeks to form a habit and also three weeks to break a habit!

Do this a couple of times and each time it will become easier.
Think positive and believe in yourself and keep saying to yourself...if its to be, its up to me. The fact that you have written about this means that you know that you must take action and this alone is a good positive sign. Good luck.

Get up an extra hour or two in the morning drink some coffee and take a b-12, take a shower and get ready for the day...By then you will fully alert and then just MAKE yourself sit down and do atleast thirty mins or an hour of schoolwork. Soon you will develop a habit of this and when assignments come due you will feel good because they will most like be done well in advance.

Procrastination is a habit, and not procrastinating is a habit, too. Decide to do this because you know it is right for you, and stop paying so much attention to how you "feel" about it. It's a central part of growing up I wish I'd figured out a lot earlier.

Omg I am the same way hahahaha. I carried the habit onto college and its not hurting my grades because I have straight A's but I do notice that my health has deteriorated. I feel like doing nothing when I'm at home then bam! when its like 10 o'clock at night i'm wide awake doing my school work. This has made me more tired during the day. I dunno how to fix it but I found a lil trick that helped a lil bit. When I get home I just open all the windows in my room and let the light in. I also turn on all the lights and lamps in my room which makes me feel energized. When you feel energized you will feel more motivated to do your work.

Sounds like me. Pulling the A's but queen of the procrastinators!

I grew out of it. Did some things earlier and felt the benefits of it. Do something productive or something that will exhaust you and then do the homework. Taking some calcium prior to study works too.

Overcoming procrastination takes concerted effort and motivation. Sometimes, if you are plain tired, you might be having difficulty. If you think this has been your habit always, then you can begin by writing lists and setting time goals and work at finishing them by the time goals. This usually helps motivate you to compete with time. Give this a try for starters.

i think it is only natural for anyone to do only what they absolutely have to, people hear the morning alarm they say oh no i don't want to wake up,but they say if i don't jump out of bed right now i might lose my job i have bills to pay and all of a sudden they jump. but if it is a saturday morning and on friday night they planned to clean the garage saturday morning all of a sudden when they hear the alarm they might say well i still have sunday, this is kind of hard question to answer i guess just by you deciding to ask this question in the first place was a form of procrastinating good luck in any event
