Hello, Tish:
It was Pope Innocent IV in his bull: AD EXTRPANDA in 1252. Interestingly, they were torturing people several hundred years before the reformation.
I doubt that someone with a name INNOCENT will be found innocent before God.
It was atocities like these that God described when He allowed Islam to rise with mandates in the Koran to punish Christians that do not cooperate.
There is an Onlline publication: THE RISE DECLINE AND DEATH OF ISLAM IN BIBLE PROPHECY that describes this: www.revelado.org/islam.htm

The Libro *****, or Black Book, of the Inquisition.
All of the Big Five religions have evil periods in their history. I very strongly doubt Catholics are going to be shocked by realizing that an Inquisition occurred.

Bush. No wait, rumsfeld. No wait,
But horrific as it is, it's just a logical consequence of believing in the bible. Wouldn't you inflict a finite amount of pain to save a person from an infinite amount? Isn't what doctors do? Such is the twisted thinking resulting from theism.

I don't know, but I know someone who does hanging, which is where they stick a bunch of hooks all over your back and you hang from a tree or a forklift or something. They place it evened out so it doesn't tear your skin. It looks creepy, but she said it was very cleansing, and she's a cool person, so maybe it does work, it's just not for me.
