I often wonder if wine was old grape juice or something. Can any prove that it was alcoholic wine that he created? Did people get drunk after drinking the wine or anything? I obviously know nothing about wine...haha. Any theories?

As far as I have been taught, Yes the wine was different. It was the really good stuff. If you notice the passage, in John 2:9 the master of the banquet had run out of the regular wine 3 days into the wedding feast.(a major disaster) When Jesus turned the water into wine the master said "usually you serve the good stuff first. then, when everyone has had too much (drunk), you bring out the cheap wine. But you have saved the best till now. Jews did get drunk at wedding feasts and Jesus was a guest at this feast. not to say Jesus got drunk, but he made some gooood stuff. If it had been just glorified grape juice, the master would have noticed. hope this helps.

Yes, it was alchoholic. If you recall the story of Jesus turning water into wine the people said that most hosts would serve the good wine first, then when people had drunk alot they would bring out the crummy wine. They remarked when they drank Jesus' wine that it was better than the first. If it was not alchoholic this would not make sense.

There is no historical proof that wine was not alchoholic in those days. Its just an excuse from people who can't bear the thought that Jesus might have consumed the real stuff.

The process of fermentation has been around for millennia. The Egyptians and Mesopotamians made wine and beer long before Old Testament times, and grapes probably were a common ingredient. Wine or other fermented beverages could have also been made from figs, palm, etc.

It was not nearly as smooth as modern wine. It would be highly variable in character since the yeast on the grape skins were not consistent. People did get drunk. Noah got drunk.

The scientific process of fermentation is exactly the same today as it was at the beginning of time. Wine is Wine. Non-alcoholic wine is.....well, grape juice.

It was wine. Grape juice is a 20th century invention. Unfiltered , unpasturized, unrefrigerated grape juice produces alcohol naturally because of the yeast that grow naturally on the skin. There was no such thing as grape juice in ancient times.

He turned the water into wine, not grape juice.I`m sure they had grape juice back then and I`m pretty sure they knew the difference.Jesus drank wine. The Bible has a passage where its stated that a little wine is good for the stomach. Not surprising that's a proven fact today.A little wine is also good for the heart according to scientist.

I believe it was regular wine since the New Testament warns us, "Do not be drunk with wine." If they just drank juice, there would be no need for this admonition.
