Johnny V is certainly very talented but he rides first call for the biggest trainer around, Todd Pletcher so he gets on a lot of good horses. Like many jocks in that position he often can be accused of riding overconfidantly and not taking risks - like in the Tampa Bay Derby when he took Any Given Saturday wide while Street Sense rode the rail and beat him by a nose.

Two jocks I prefer are Edgar Prado and Javier Castellano. Both are top-notch riders who seem a bit more adaptable to different situations and have cool-heads when riding in big events.

Garrett Gomez is the best. Everybody that's been mentioned is great, but Garrett is money everywhere he rides. I think Victor Espinoza is the most underrated. For whatever reason, his name doesn't usually seem to pop up when the best rider is being discussed.
