I'm 14 years old and i think i have OCD. My parents dont belive me..my friends do though.

some of the things i do, i like to avoide the colored tiles in school, and if i touch one with my left foot, i gota touch the same color with my right foot.
I got to wake up at 7:01 every mornin before school
I hate even numbers; i gota have an odd number for the T.V. volume, or else i freak out ( i dont know why )
When ever i'm putting away the dishes it has to go in this order: Cups, bowls, plates, silverware.
Oh and i hate my room messy.. i gota keep it clean
Or have to do a certain number of times so nothing bad will happen or something.

I have alot more but it would be too much to list. Do i have OCD? And if i do, how do i get my parents to belive me?

That sounds exactly like OCD. I myself have OCD but everything has to be even numbers for me. I even, just like you, have to leave the TV volume number on 6 every night when I go to sleep. A lot of people don't promote taking medication but it helps so much. I go to therapy and get help for it too and that really helps too. Believe me it can really get very annoying and even cause suicidal thoughts because people just don't want to live with it anymore. I recommend getting your parents to just pay for one session to get you evaluated and tell your parents you will stop bothering them about it if they send you to the therapist to get evaluated. My therapist talked with my mom privately and told her I had it. My mom accepted it and let me go to therapy and take medicine. Good luck with it. E-mail me and maybe we can make a little mini support group of our own.

It is quite possible that you have OCD, or some other type of condition. It seems to be bothering you quite a bit, so I would suggest getting checked out. You need to tell your parents that you feel this is a serious problem. If they refuse, I would suggest going to another relative, like a close aunt, granparent, etc. to take you. If you can live with it with no problems, no worries.
I do know where you are coming from, I have some signs of it too. Mine tend to be with numbers, patterns, balance, etc. Everyday at lunch, my milk must be slammed on the table 3 times before I can open it. If it's messed up, then it has to total 9. It gets annoying sometimes...

Don't worry you don't have OCD you just like things to be perfect. I HAVE to write everything neatly, even the periods at the ends of my sentences. If there is even a little teeny tiny flaw that no one will notice I must erase and rewrite it. And you number thing. When I'm listening to music on my phone, even when I know the volume is on three, I go down to zero or mute and put it up three times. It always has to be three, not one, five, seven, and ten, not nine. I always rearange my books on my shelf every other day because it starts to become an organized mess. Every time I look at the clock it's always 3:16. I don't look at the clock any other time ecxept for when I have an appointment. When I have an appointment I look at the clock and only one minute has gone by. I go to the doctor every week, were practically really close friends but that doesn't break him to tell me I have problems. But he said the only problem I have is bipolar not OCD.

Sounds probable. Sometimes cutting down the number of times you do something or decreasing the times you "need" to something can get you more in control. Therapy sometimes consist of doing this. And of course, medication can help, too. Do you have a community mental health clinic in your area? Or how about your school counselor or social worker? They may be effective in getting you the help you need. You usually have to have a parent or guardian sign for you if you are under 18. Hope you get some help!

It does sound like OCD. Good on you for being aware enough of yourself to see that these behaviours are not serving your best interests. Left unrecognised and treated any or all of these symptons and develope, become entrenched in your life and cause you much saddness.

At age 14 you are truly beginning to build your adult pscyhe. Continue to monitor yourself and reach out for help until you find someone who can help you re-train your thought patterns, so they you are free of obsessive thoughts/behaviours.

PS OCD is often associated with above normal intelligence, focus on your strengths and learn to let the other stuff go.

sounds like it, i have OCD. and i can't stand a messy room and im obsessed with rules and order like the dishes thing. You should ask your mom if you can see a doctor about it, ot tell the school nurse or counselor that you have a hard time focusing in school because you think you have osd and maybe they will talk to your parents

Do you have a teacher you really trust? If so, ask to speak to her/him privately. Or talk to your counselor at school. They will know what to do. They will be able to convince your parents that you need help. I've been in your situation and believe me, you can get better. Just find someone to get the ball rolling. Good luck.

This is something you need to address. Try talking very honestly about your symptoms and fears to your parents and asking them to take you to a Doctor for a real diagnosis. If your parents still don't listen to you talk to an adult like the school counselor or nurse and have them help you talk to your parents. This site might be helpful to show to your parents http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/emotions/behavior/OCD.html

Good luck! I really hope you can get the help you need.

If for example, you have an obsessive way to keep your bedroom clean, it could be OCD. If your parents don't believe you, and your school has a counselor, go see him, and he could try to talk with your parents and understand better the disorder, maybe your parents don't understand well the illness, that's probably why they don't believe you. They also can go to www.webmd.com to obtain information.

If you seriously have to do that and you are not just trying to get attention or be funny then you could but you should go see a doctor or psychologist because I am sure not qualified to tell you for sure.
