Read the book "Divergent Paths from the Restoration" by Steven Shields.
He lists 135 that split off in the first 150 years. 14 came off in the first 14 years (While Joseph Smith was still alive.)
There are some common elements between them all:
Joseph Smith is a prophet
Book of Mormon is the word of God

There are some divergent things too:
polygamy
use of peyote mushrooms and marihuana as sacraments
sabbatarian churches.

Not only are their several that you can kind info about in the Internet, but there are a lot of small communities of people out there using the Book of Mormon and the teachings of the early Prophets. You'd never find these groups if you didn't know someone who is or was in them. They keep separate for many reasons, but basically it's a fear of persecution.

Many very many. The man who was arrested and was on Americas most wanted was a prophet of one of these churches.
I think the RDLS is the largest, they have churches all over the world, while other churches normally are in rural parts of Utah and other states. Many still practice polygamy.

I love that they used the word 'reorganized' - it sounds like a product pitch.

New, reorganized Mormonism! Now with 15% less crazy, and up to 75% fewer wives!
