I am organizing a golf tournament for our church that is open to the public. I got a basic idea. Can anyone give me suggestions for it or ideas? i.e. expectations, do you expect anything

Getting players registered for your tournament can sometimes feel like a full-time
job. You need to constantly stay on top of the situation. Be sure to set a
deadline for registration of golfers for several weeks before the time the golf
course needs a final count. After the deadline, there are no refunds. This may
sound harsh, but last minute cancellations can be a nightmare. You will have to
honor the number of golfers that you committed to the golf course whether
players show up or not.
The registration form should include 1) the information the player will need to get
to the golf course 2) the date 3) the time and 4) what to expect once they get
there. The form should also include all the information you will need to contact
the player (and his/her foursome if applicable) including phone, address and
especially e-mail address. E-mail is a great way to send reminders and let the
golfers know you received their registration fees.

In order to attract the greatest amount of people.... go with a 4-man Best Ball Scramble. This can go off as a Shotgun Start and take up as little of the golf course's tee times as possible. I'm going to guess you're planning on holding the outing on a weekend...... the busiest days for a course. Shotgun start.... everybody starts at the same time..... and finishes about the same time.... roughly 4-4 1/2 hrs later. Door prizes: ask local merchants to donate prizes......... sell raffle tickets and raffle the prizes off after the outing. Hole sponsorship: ask local businesses to sponsor a hole for $25 or $50. Post a conspicuous sign at the tee box recognizing and thanking the business for their sponsorship. Check with the club pro for more ideas. AND........ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE!!!
