We just adopted two 3-month old Shepard/Rott mixed puppies from the Animal Shelter. They were spayed and neutered today. I brougth them home and noticed that while they were napping, Niko, my boy, was breathing extremely hard. He is napping now and still breathing faster than normal. What could be wrong? Should I make an appointment to get him checked out?

TIA

Dogs have sweat glands in only a few places on their bodies and rapid panting may tell u that he's in a place that's too hot. I'd check with a vet, but my guess is that it's too humid or hot in your home.

It might be from being put under for the neutering or just sometimes puppies do breath a little faster. But to make things at ease for yourself I probably would just call the vet in the morning or if you know of any that are open or can call tonight and just see whats up as to why he's doing that I would. But if its really bad I definitely would try to see if you can find and emergency number for the vet or if yours isn't on call for things like that could look up one that might be.

if your in the south I notice we have a high pollen count and if your dog could be affected by it as mine is she has allergies and has been breathing hard to after going out side.
if this is so then yes you should take him to the doctor.
