lol here I am :) I NEVER said it was written in english "smarty pants", I said it is the only true version of the bible. Obviously there are scrolls, but the bible put together as a whole, the 1611 KJV is it. The new ones are all corrupted... God says he will perserve his word, and he has in that biuble!

Some Christians believe that the King James Version is "the only true version of the Bible" for English speaking people seeking which translation to read. They believe this because of the difference between the philosophical and religious position of the translators for the KJV vs. that of the translators of later versions.

Translating often requires choosing between possible meanings for individual words. Therefore, what a translator believes about God and how God operates plays a part in how that translator may choose to translate an individual word.

I have compared many translations and see very little difference between them. Still, when there is a discrepancy, I like to go to the KJV and look up individual words in a Strong's concordance, which gives the original Greek and Hebrew definitions of words. Then I can see what choices the translator had and what I believe to be a reasonable translation based on the context of the passage.

No, of course not. As a Christian, I know that the Bible is a translated book of the original scriptures. I pray as I read and hope that God leads me to an understanding of the scriptures the way He intended them. Unless I learn to speak and read Greek and Hebrew, this is the closest I can get. I can only pray and have faith that those in-trusted with the translation, did not only King Jame's will in translating the Bible into English, but the Lord's will and compiled the Bible with the messages the way He originally intended.

Some people are quite ignorant of the history of their own church.

KJV only sorts ignore the fact that there are many many other languages out there, and that to believe in KJV only implies that only English speakers can read the word of God. It also implies that the translators who produced the KJV created a work that was more correct than the original documents. (Which by the way, were copies of copies of copies themselves.)

No we do not. Although I had a preacher once tell me the same thing, that they stuck to the KJV because it was the original... and I said well I thought the original writings were in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic... To which well. Suffice to say, I just kept reading what I wanted to read.
Still a Christian though!

The Bible was written in Hebrew initially. Later it was written in Greek and Aramic. That is the reason the "Old Testament" is referred to as the "Hebrew Scriptures" and the "New Testament" is referred to as the "Greek Scriptures". Ancient manuscripts that have been unearthed (Dead Sea Scrolls) as well as indepth studies on the time period and scenario in which the Bible books were writte, prove that they were written originally in those languages.

SOME, NOT ALL. There are some Christians who believe the KJV is the only good Bible.

Many Christians think different.

Unfortunately, there are stupid people out there that would believe the bible was first written in English....In fact, I once heard of a pastor that said "If the King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, then it's good enough for me!"

Please, don't think all Christians are like this!!!!
